Vinduro / Murphy's Creek Non Competitive Vinduro 1st & 2nd April 2017
« on: January 10, 2017, 03:10:54 pm »
I've just sent the Sup Regs away to MQ for approval for the Toowoomba Motorcycle Clubs first Vinduro of the year. We have kept the entry at $25.00, unfortunately MA have increased the One Event Recreational Licence fee from $25.00 to $30.00. That said, it's still a very cheap weekend of Vinduro riding. If you've never riddden a NON COMPETITIVE Vinduro, now is your chance to come along and see what we get up to, the tracks will be easy to master and fun to ride. Camping is free. Entries will be taken from 10am on the Saturday and the first riders will be sent on their way at 1pm, with the track closing at 4pm. Sunday entries will be taken from 7am with the first riders away at 8.30am, with the track closing at 1.30pm. Info contact Lawrie on 0421 510 897 or Mick on 0421 276 875.

Yes Noel we had to bring the date forward to ensure we got enough helpers over the weekend.

The Supp Regs have just been approved by MQ and we, the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club, are getting ready for our second vinduro for the year, which will be held on the 15th & 16th of August.   We are starting Saturdays ride at 11.00am and finishing at 4pm with Sunday starting at 8.30am finishing at 1.30pm. If you have been waiting for a great value for money Vinduro, which is great fun to ride you can't miss this one. We are setting out a VMX friendly loop, plus we'll still have the great tracks that the boys love riding. Camping is free and the grounds will be open from Friday afternoon, there is no catering on site. The entry fee is the same as last time and MA Single Event Recreational Licences will be available.  :D :D You can contact Lawrie on 0421 510 897 or Mick on 0421276875.

G'day to Davey good to hear from you, The only reason I went to the masters games last year was because someone kindly donated two entries to a friend and I'm still waiting for my warm :) :) fuzzy feeling in the shape of a medallion from the ride. Everyone has valid points on why we don't attract riders, to me it's a mystery as we send out info every where, Clubby has even promoted it Trailzone. Yes it gets hot in Queensland, that said it doesn't stop VMX/MX, enduros or Sprint events taking place. Our Vinduro's are NON Competitive, and you can ride the loop as many times as you like and as slow or as fast as your skills will allow you.

I'm all ready planning our next Vinduro which will be held at the Toowoomba Motorcycle Clubs property at Murphy's Creek around the 22nd 23rd of August, but it's up to YOU the riders to either support vinduro's or not. If you don't turn up it's your loss not mine. Enough said  :D :D

I'm a little late in giving this report on our Vinduro which was held last weekend. Saturdays ride was a ripper, there was still heaps of sub soil moisture which kept the tracks perfect for ripping into it. The number of entries for the Saturday was disappointing with only 18 turning up. While having beers on Saturday night the heavens opened up and we had around 30mm plus of rain which effectively put paid to the event starting on Sunday. The Murphy's Creek tracks are great with a bit of moisture, but we unfortunately we had too much rain.

The entry numbers are worrying for the two Clubs that host Vinduros in the south east of Qld. The Sunshine Coast Club run a combined non competitive event on the Saturday and competitive event on the Sunday. My Club the Toowoomba Motorcycle Club are planning on running one more non competitive event in August this year. There are heaps of riders out there with old enduro and MX bikes, but how do we get them to our events?? The Masters Games on the Gold Coast last year attracted approx 50 vinduro riders. The course was very easy and non challenging, but fun to ride. We as a Club are not concerned about making lots of money, if we break even we are happy. Entry for our 2 day event is $50.00, plus an MA license if required. The masters Games was triple this amount. The Toowoomba Club is all about promoting the sport of motorcycling, and I thank our sponsors Toowoomba Honda, Toowoomba Yamaha for supplying arrows and bunting.

Are our events perceived to be too hard, and are they worried about damaging their bikes? My question to you all is, what can be done to increase the numbers to these events? I would love to hear from you all on this.

My Club and I will  continue to run Vinduros in the short term in the hope of attracting more riders to what I believe is a great concept. The only thing that will stop me is the lack of support from the riders. It's up to you. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Yours in motorcycling

Lawrie

We just finished off the track marking this afternoon and  I reckon it's the best track we have done to date. There is still a few wet areas to enjoy and a few little hills to rip up. One of the boys had a working trip meter and it read 17 Klms, how long it takes to get around will be up to you. With the moisture still in the ground it should make for a great ride, plus iIt should be a perfect day with the weather forecast indicating that it should be around 28 degrees, with a possible shower, bring it on...

See you all tomorrow. 8) 8) 8)

It's good to see that you are all keen to come over and ride our Vinduro this weekend.  The camp area has just been mowed and is looking a treat. Mick and I are going down on Friday to finish the track marking, and I reckon the tracks should be in great condition after recent rains.

See you all at the weekend.

G'day all, it was a sad day :-[ :-[ when we had to postpone our Vinduro at the weekend, but with all the heavy rain and the cyclone coming our way we had little choice. I'm sorry to all who were preparing to come to the ride and were disappointed with the postponement.

That said, I've just confirmed the 21st and 22nd of March with MQ for our Vinduro ;D ;D I look forward to catching up with you all then.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mick on 0421 276 875 or myself on 0421 510 897 any time.

Bloody wet weather, sorry to inform you all but we have reluctantly postponed this weekend Vinduro. The weather is hitting all along the coast and inland, although we are not as affected as the coast, it's still going to be a wet weekend, and you don't want to be stuck in some the clay hills and gullies we have. The track is all marked ready to go, and it's disappointing to see all the good work go to waste.
We are looking at the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of March, and with a bit of luck the weather will be good. See you all then.

It will great to see some of our southern brothers come up for the ride. The first rider will be sent on his merry way on Saturday at 1.30pm and the track will close at 4.30pm.  Sundays start time is 8.30am and the track will close at 1.30pm. I reckon the loop will be around the 35 to 45 minute mark, depends on how hard you twist the throttle. There no worries regarding entries as we take them on the day. We look forward to meeting you, travel safely.

Tis good to see you boys are coming across for our event. The good wife and I have just returned from walking and marking parts of the track, The track we have is a ripper and I'm sure you will enjoy what we have in store for you.  It was wet there today which made it a bit difficult walking, but it would have been fantastic on a bike. Things are looking great, unless it gets real hot we shouldn't have too much dust, so get ready rip into it boys and sharpen up those knobbies. 8) 8) 8)

I've just returned from our Murphy's Creek property and the place is looking great ;D ;D ;D, We have had some nice rain and if you can believe the forecasters we should be getting a bit more rain over the next few days. I've finalised what the track layout will be, and I reckon you boys will love what I've got planned for you to ride. It will be a little challenging but not too difficult even for our moto cross friends who might just take up the challenge and try a bit of "old school enduro riding"  ;D ;D Happy days.

The track will be much the same as last time, and I might include a few new bits just to keep you on your toes, and to upset the MX boys,,,,ha, ha. The track width will be standard enduro, handlebar wide, and the MX track will be included. If the weather is good there may even be some mud,,, happy days.

If you don't have an MA open licence, we will have a supply of Motorcycling Australia Single Recreational Activity Licences for sale @ $25.00. This licence will cover you for the two days of non competitive riding and all monies from the Licences go to our governing body, MQ..  The licence fee is on top of the entry fee.

It's good to see you are keen to come and have a ride, lets hope that we get some of our VMX mates to come along for the fun, and I'll try to make the track a bit wider just for them....  ;D ;D

The Toowoomba Motorcycle Club are planning on running two Non Competitive Vinduros in 2015 ;D ;D ;D. The event's are open for any pre 90's enduro or trail bike including MX bikes, lights are not necessary.  The course is on our Club property and will be MX friendly. Camping is free and is encouraged. We may even try to arrange a show and shine on the Saturday afternoon. Not that there will be too many clean bikes after riding on Saturday. Riding will start at 1pm Saturday and finish will be 4.30pm, and Sunday's start will be at 8.30 and finishing at 1.30pm  Entry fee will be $50.00 plus the cost of an MA licence if required. We will have them on site. The first event will be on the 21/22nd of February and the second on the 15/16th of August. Mark these dates down for next year. See you there. 8) 8) 8)
