Some 40 hole Borranis are worth a small fortune especially if they fit an early Ducati SS or Sport. I'm after one to suit the rear of a Guzzi 850T3 but would need to find out what the 4 digit code number is, just in case you might be interested in selling it.

Thanks for all your comments, I decided to order the 66mm ring set to suit the original piston. When it turns up I will have to find out how to file it down to size (might be a bit beyond my skill level)

For Sale / Bultaco Metralla
« on: June 04, 2016, 06:19:46 pm »
I'm going to list a Metralla on Fleabay tomorrow but thought I would see if there was anyone on here interested before I list it. The bike is disassembled but complete except for the exhaust and the part of the enclosed chain guard that wraps around the sprocket. There may be one or two other bits and pieces missing as well as it was pulled apart when I bought it. The speedo will need work too as the needle is gone, but other than that it looks like it was in reasonable order before it was pulled apart. Some of the chroming has been done already and looks good. Looking for $4800, with a bit of effort and 2-3000 more it would be a cheap project considering what they have been fetching in recent times. I will take some photos tomorrow if anyone is interested. I know its not VMX but thought it might be of interest to someone.
Cheers,  Rob

Wanted / Re: New Rings
« on: May 30, 2016, 11:15:30 pm »
The standard piston I have is 65mm diameter, the motor is a Minarelli design made in Italy and used in several different brands under license.
There is one set of rings on Ebay to suit this motor, but they are 66mm (2nd oversize). Wouldn't that be too great a difference to cut down
to suit the 65mm piston, approx 3.14 mm, anyone have an opinion?
I have been told of a couple of places to try including Ken Colvin, thanks for the help.

Wanted / New Rings
« on: May 28, 2016, 11:05:35 pm »
I'm looking for a set of rings to suit a Carabela 200. They're 65mm standard pinned ring on the lower and L profile on the top ring. Is there an outlet I can contact to see if there is something that will fit, piston as well would be good but I don't like my chances.
Any help appreciated....

General Discussion / Re: Bike prices.
« on: February 08, 2016, 11:29:59 pm »
Over the past 10 years or so I've restored some oddball bikes like a couple of Coopers, Carabelas, a CZ and a few Montesas just for fun. I've never done any of them to sell and they're not really investments unless there is someone else out there that likes unusual bikes. Recently I acquired a 99 MC250 Gasgas, which will owe me about 5k when finished but it's worth it to me because there isn't another one that I know of in the country (happy to be proved wrong)
As far as I can see, road bikes from the 60s and 70s seem to be holding their value better than dirt bikes. Last week a Metralla project sold for 4.5k and was only about 60% complete.
Btw Nathan, what is rofl, I can't work that one out entirely.
