Kawasaki / 1983 (i THINK kdx200)
« on: March 16, 2016, 03:38:02 pm »
hello all, my son was given whats left of a KDX 200 which is in bad shape. he wants to fix it up, so any bits and pieces you have and are willing to sell would be greatly appreciated. - the plastics and tanks are not usable so these would be needed. the seat cover is gone off the top of the seat but the sides still have the 200 logo on the side of the seat. I am guessing this makes it a 1983?

now that we have discussed karchers to death what about stuff to actually assist in removing the stubborn dirt?? I believe if you use the pressure washer only you tend to sit in one place untill you kinda wear the dirt down or the paint under it, but if you use a good dirt removing stuff the dirt just falls off. has anyone used Muckoff? or anyother good stuff. I got some stuff from team moto the other day that worked well but left a heavy reidue ( can tremember the name right now)

Tech Talk / Re: Glueing Airfilters
« on: September 10, 2010, 11:30:45 am »
The very best and easiest way of repairing filters is washing them thoroughly to get ALL oil residue off and then applying that blue glue from bunnings that you use for joing and gluing pvc plumbing pipes. Its cheap and comes in a small plastic jar with a paintbrush under the lid. The filter is permanatly repaired after that and oil does not affect it.

Tech Talk / Re: YZ50 engine rebuild - PROBLEM
« on: September 09, 2010, 08:19:29 am »
I had the same prob with the 465 so i heated the case halves really hot. you think they are going to melt but thats when the clearances are enough to let the bearings slip in without them getting side preload. as the bearing is forced into the case the inner shell is being pushed opposite to the outer shell causing preload. After i heated the fu*& out of them i had to use an old tee shirt to hold them and rest the cases on. After tightening all the screws i lifted the engine up only to find the tee shirt hanging from the bottom of the engine. Got pinched in the case halves joint. I wasnt going to pull the barstards apart again to i ran a stanley knife ofer the joint trimmed the tee shirt off and she has never leaked in 3 years ha ha  :D

So next weekend for a day we gonna hammer me? and are you copping out and going to use the new bike? or are you going to punnish the kidneys with me on the real iron?

How the f&#k can the ruptured arseholes claim tax on dollars which have been spent after you already paid tax. Surely this is friggin unlawful? If it is the case then I am sure many invoices can be raised for the cost to get those bikes ready for sale and then the f*&^ers might have to pay you tax, wouldnt that piss them off...

Tech Talk / Re: painting plastic tanks
« on: July 20, 2010, 09:43:53 am »
I know this aint got anything to do with paint but that link made me sit up ...The angle of that shock interests me, i recon that would be a shit hot rear end, really soft initialy and then getting harder as the angle decreased, mmmm I was also looking at the yz twin shock conversion and the guy who makes swing arms and thinking if i can get the 81 yz rear end modified to something amazing...

Yamaha / Re: YAMAHOP

I'm erring towards renovating the original shock body possibly hard anodising it, fitting a G3 gold valve , and triple rate springs from works performance, i recon that should be the best i can do. It might however be more expensive this way than buying a whole new shock By the way how do Ohlins pistons and Gold valvs pistons differ? do they work differently. I like the look of the gold valve as it has nice large ports and looks like the oil will flow easilly on sharp quick square edges.

I too only have a vmx bike (iz465) and i have on the occasion ridden with mates (on modern bikes) in the forests and I just got used to the bone jarring ride and bad brakes but i more or less keep up the pace ( not lately though) . Then i rode my sons kx250f around a 5km loop in the forest and couldnt believe the ease at which i could maintain speed and accuracy. I also could not fault the power and on the occasion found the thing wanting to stand vertically with the power on. I am truely amazed at the power delivery of this thing compare to my 2 stoke 465. mmm we have come a long way. I will be getting a modern bike for sure as soon as i get the money. BUT BUT after a days riding after the bikes are clean and side by side in the garage I just keep drooling over the yellow IZ465 NOT the KX , there is still something about the raw beauty of the older 2 strokes....
