Yep, just talkin' about those days again on Friday night with a guy called Brent C who used to ride the same tracks. He's 50 now and still riding. You would have known Jeff McCorkel then?

We a;so had a "local philosipher" named Dave that I thought was great when I was 15 who when we were sitting on the rear car seat at the top the burm used to tell the younger kids tall stories and all about life.  I realised much later that although Dave could wheelstand an XT500 better than most people he just found drugs easier to deal with than life.

I had to drop my son off the other day to pick his car up at Tingalpa and guess what, the road we turned left up off Belmont Rd was the same road I used to ride trail bikes up when I was young that led to McCorkels quarry.  Big estate now, but there is a McCorkel road. Shit I miss them days.

Tech Talk / Re: Model 120 Bultaco wheel offset

Asked Donny Newell also he said the same as Peter, so reset the front in middle of the forks.  Strange thing though, when lacing up the back it would have ended up the same as the front with 5mm offset to the left.  So did it as did the front and centered it in the swing arm.

I should say that I imported the bike from California 5 years ago from James Banke Performance and it has been my street bike.  Mind you to get it registered here I had to put on a front guard (MotoTumbi Ducati 750SS race front fitted perfectly on a 19 inch front wheel) rear guard made out of electrical cable tray and a heat gun and a speedo from a bicycle (Sigma go up to 100MPH). Oh and the chain guard came from Ducati paralysed twin ( left hand chain) - just had to modify the offset for the shock mount and used a plumbers pipe clamp (with heat shrink on the swing arm).  By the way these all fell off after the rego.

The rear is standard T140 disc and wheel but with Gremica rear caliper.  The front is Brembo brakes with Yamaha XS650 front forks and wheel.  The motor is prob 1978 T140V the one with splayed inlets.

I have a 1967 Triumph TR6R with a T140V engine running disc brakes front and rear.  Would my bike be eligible for vintage dirt track?

Tech Talk / Suzuki TS400 jetting with an expansion chamber
« on: June 14, 2010, 07:45:01 pm »
A mate of mine just rebuilt his early TS400 and has had an expansion chamber built for it.  He said it's a 'bit doughy' up until about 4 1/2 thou RPM.  Can anyone tell me if he should change his jetting?  It has the original carb on it.  Cheers Ray.

I've got to agree with Rob on that Popeye - thought the track was great and a credit to all involved in the preparation.
