Bike Transport / Re: what's it cost to wash a bike from the USA?
« on: April 18, 2011, 08:34:32 pm »
Just brought in a bike from the states, cleaned at a cost of $250.

Gday Bitten Hey mate did you get any invoice for the cleaning from your shipper or better still from customs  ???

;D I don't want to cause any ill feeling  :-\ about the companies that import the bikes for us it is a paper crusade  ::) and they deserve to be paid a fair $$ for what they go through but are they using the washing cost as a way of earning a bit on the side  ;) i have heard a lot of different costings on the cleaning of bikes!! My experience with gov.ment dept. are they go by the book, so how can the price vary so much  :o

Competition / Pre 75 on Saturday @ Rocksburg
« on: March 30, 2011, 11:44:57 am »
 :D Gday,
I went to rocksburg on saturday for a ride on my old 74 yamie and as we all do i am trying different springs and oil levels in an attempt to get better handling from the old girl and the day was a great fun I think the track was awesome it had a bit of everything and no "Rocks"  ;D   So is this a sign of things to come  ???   I hope so the qvmx club should be commended for having the foresight and initiative for coming up with the concept in my opinion!! Its hard work keeping the old bike up right after a couple of rounds of evo and pre 90 have left there impact on the track surface but hey maybe I'm just a shit rider  :-\ but I think the Saturday thing would be good for pre 75 and 78 as a practice day type of arrangement  it could bring more spectators because of the camping aspect and in turn get more people into the sport. As things progress would it be possible to hold one or two races in the afternoon this might also help take the pressure off the normal race format on sunday.

Cheers! Gasitt

Husqvarna / Re: WR 400 1986 gear box oil How much?
« on: September 25, 2010, 07:09:46 pm »

I think we are all using a variety of different oils and grades of oils in the trannies, but it is important as the bikes are good at stuffing gears.

:) The oil recommended in the book is Engine oil SAE 20 but it is bloody thin and the book was written in Sweden where temp's are colder so I have used SAE 30 and never had a problem it is cheap and readily available at any mower shop or burnings it is the same oil used in Briggs & stratton mowers.
The biggest gear box wrecker is the rider not using the clutch :o be kind to your old bike  ::)

Husqvarna / Re: 1978 390AMX/CR Carbie Jetting
« on: September 14, 2010, 07:24:47 pm »
Yeah the manual doesnt list the needle fpr some reason.  Mine runs a 6DH3 needle on 3rd clip position with 420 main jet, 2.0 air jet and 25 pilot jet. Goes like a rocket I reckon :D Beware of the feeble kickstart lever splines - although you sound like you had a good run back in the day so know how to keep em tight.

;) Yep the Berq is on the money but I have found a bigger pilot jet will make it start better when its hot a 35 or 40 when you get it going check the plug it will tell you whats going on should be baby biscuit brown and he is right about the kicker if you fit a decomp. valve in the head it will make things easier for you and the bike. How about some pics on your progress ;D ;D.

So keep us posted on up dates of the resurrection champ.

  :D Nice Clip Mike,
Brings back a few memories!!! Stradbroke Island  :o what sort of sadist would put on an enduro there?? I rode a 6hr at Round Mt Cabarita in the early 80's on a 125 the flats were  sand and hard yaka it was good going up the hills but those sand flats at the bottom  :'( :'( after the event I had to strip the bike totally it even had sand in the head stem bearings part of the property the event was on is now the Jet Boat race circuit.
                                           Cheers!

Vinduro / Re: Vinduro competition
« on: August 15, 2010, 07:50:25 pm »
Gday redrider,
Or should we call you Honda mate! :D If you are keen for a bit of comp. riding there are a lot of enduro's held that run rally class  :o This class has a time card and rides the same terrain as the pro classes and its intent is to let you run at the rear of the classes and experience what the concept of the event is all about. Or just ride vmx its getting pretty full on.

I personally am really looking forward to the masters games i think it will generate a lot more interest in the vinduro concept and that will be a good think to all those fellas that are stripping the lights off the classic enduro weapons to be involved in vmx because they don't have an event here in SEQ on a regular basis that i am aware of.

General Discussion / Help with classes and years!
« on: July 27, 2010, 02:53:28 pm »
 Gday Fellas,
I know i might sound stupped but could you help me clarify the classes please  ::)

??? Pre 70 is only bikes built before 1970 and so on with the other classes??
??? What years dose evo start and finish??
    ??? What happens if i have a 1970 engine in a 1969 frame??

I know that each class has its own merrits but i also dont understand the year differences pre 70 to pre 75 = 5 years of models pre 75 to pre 78 has only 3 years of models and evo has ???  :o

  Thanks Husky AU  ;)
