Gee ElsionoreYZ - I didn't think the little RS would cause such a ruckus ;D

I have a lot access to bikes in my life through family and friends - ZX10, GSXR's, Aprilia SXV550( 8)), BSA, Harleys and even other 'modern' dirt bikes.

I have ridden them on the road, off the road and at racetracks and not all of them are my cup of tea but I can appreciate them all for what they are.

I  said in my intro I am a rodder not a biker but these old bikes give me some fun - One of my best mates has raced several Suzuki GSXRs over the years and I gave him a ride of my DT250. He returned muttering about drum brakes etc and how do you ride this thing, but he enjoyed the novelty just the same.

Oh well - cheers Turns

I thought I would post some pics of my Dt250. I have some better pics at work that I will upload when i get back to work - still a few weeks away ;D

I bought this bike with 5500kms on it that were said to be original, which i believe. It had stock tyres, tool kit but needed some work to get it reliable. it had some leaks, needed some carb work etc and had been sprayed with black paint over most of the bike to protect it :o luckily not on the tank and stuff.
I fixed the bike up with a new battery, filters, points, tyres, globes, touch up paint etc and got it running quite nice. I guess this first go at it reacquainted me with two strokes and small bikes to a degree. I get to ride all sorts of new bikes at times but that sound and smell of an old two stroke getting strapped is something that I love - cal it stress mgt ;)

I had the bike set up like this for a couple of years but always wanted to rego it so I could ride it more without having to chuck it in the ute. For rego i thought it needed a tidy up and this is what happened next.........

I was getting some product at work powdercoated so got the frame and swing arm done. At first I really wanted to paint the frame to keep it simple but got talked into powdercoat - now I wish I had more parts done. The other problem with powdercoating is everything else that was on the bike now looks rough.

The last pics I have just stuck the tank on to see what it looked like. The original blue on the tanks is not too bad unless you get up real close to inspect it - I might just re clear coat them as I don't want to mess with stickers and paint matching and stuff.
I thought I should strip and paint some bolt on parts at work where I have a booth and more space

I have painted them in VHT satin black engine enamel - seemed like a good idea at the time. Here is the motor on the bench

I will post more pics when I take them as I am a bit further with the build now. Is this type of build thread ok for this forum. I am and will need some advice as I haven't done a bike before and looking elsewhere on this forum you guys are basically bike mechanics.

thanks for the interest
cheers turns

G'day
This is my first post (other than intro) so it is more of a test post but wanted to put up some pics of something.

This is my 74 RS100 that I picked up a while ago. It was in Melbourne so had to transport it up - even though it is not the most desirable piece of two wheeled machinery I hardly slept with excitement before its arrival. It has a few small issues to sort out before I ride it too much. Needs a new fuel tap and the foot pegs sorted - that being said when it arrived I kicked and rode it for 20mins just to be sure ;)

Now that I have had it a while I have tinkered with it but not done too much with it. My time has been spent on my other bike that I will post up soon. I want to use the RS for pure off road and the 250 for road and dirt.

I hope this fits into this type of forum as I know this is forum has a racing background to it - old dirt bikes are old dirt bikes. Keep me inline if I get off topic of this forum.

Hi all - thought I would start with an intro.

I have ridden dirt bikes on and off most of my life but gradualy drifted towards cars and now hotrods. A while back I bought a couple of bikes to have a bit of fun with. Both are Yamaha 74 models being a DT250B and an RS100. Two strokes don't seem to be as popular with my mates these days....go figure.

I plan to ride the 250 on the street with a bit of off road and the RS100 as a pure off road thrasher. I haven't ridden the Rs much so don't know how good she'll be to punt around. At the moment i don't have too much desire to actually race them but thought this forum could teach me more about the bikes I have. In my youth YZs where the go but my mates don't have much knowledge or enthusiasm for this older stuff any more :( Seems the newer stuff is their go

Once I figure how to post pics I'll post some
Cheers Turns
