In Evolution there's that catch all phrase "later components modified to comply are not allowed" or words to that effect. There's been talk about how to circumvent the Evolution rules for years but in reality there's very little problem.
Problem child is Pre95.However now with a class, Period20, for the non compliant bikes and the tightened eligibility rules to protect the kosher Pre95 bikes hopefully that will settle down.
If someone wants to go bananas check out REVolution, but if that doesn't fit then its Modern.

Hopefully no one's that dumb. That 2001 KTM fits straight into Period 20 standard

How excitement, to paraphrase Effy.
In addition to the above is the Ëvolution Cup run as a Support Class for the 2021 Australian MX Championship round at Maitland on 27 June. More on this later.
So Evolution riders, 27 June Maitland, Classic Nats as above, then ride your Evo bike in Pre85 and Pre85 Age the following week in Post Classic.
I'll dig up some sponsorship and trophies for a trifecta over the three events. Watch this space.

Not really wasted, onward and upward for 2001. Same host club, same venue, add Evolution 4 str as a championship class and it's all go.
Follow the next weekend with Post Classic and ride our Evo Bikes in Pre85 and yippee !!

Still a lot less classes than Classic, and that works well.

The rules are able to be updated as has always been the case. If in a few years there is an issue with Period 20 (say a 1996 model) becoming too outdated someone could submit a proposal that a Pre2005 Class be introduced, If accepted it would stand alone and Period 20 would continue as defined. Your point re people wanting the latest model compliant with the class has always been the case but a large number also ride bikes not considered to be the ultimate for their era. Many choose because of nostalgia, cost, etc rather than the perceive latest and greatest. As Mick says these P20 and REVolution bikes are out there now being ridden in Pre95. Clubs have been unable or unwilling to control this. These rules combined with tightening eligibility criterior will hopefully stabilise Pre85/90/95 and give what have been referred to as cheaters a legit class.

What Mick said. In the final analyses only the host club can decide if they are willing to put in the work and take the financial risk. The MX Commission is helping where it can and obviously we all hope it goes ahead and gives us something to look forward to.
I think we'll know by Monday but as said it's down to Heaven VMX.

Only official confirmation from Ken Swan or Heaven has any validity. I understand Heaven had a meeting last night so we can expect a notification shortly.

« on: April 22, 2020, 06:20:18 pm »
With the bushfire aftermath, still drought in some areas and of course the ongoing Corona Virus creating much financial hardship it is timely to resurrect "Riders Against Depression" We raised just over $11.000.00 last time and aim for $50,000.00 this time. As soon as it's set up we'll advise how to fundraise. Any clubs or organisers who can come on board please contact [email protected]
