Saw plenty of bent front rims which had the green label. Seems to me the yellow and red Akront's were stronger.

eBay Finds / Re: Is this legit?

The VB was a dealers "Mule". It was common practice in the states for a dealer to purchase a bike and remove parts to sell as needed. This bike came from California and is exactly what it is advertised as.

I would suggest not using ATF in the clutch. I have seen what it does and it's not pretty! Ruins the plates. Stick with what the factory recommends. 10/30wt motor oil.

I have tons of NOS spokes, but no oem nipples.

General Discussion / Re: Got Dogs?

This is Kona. She was rescued from a local shelter. They had advertised her as a Shepard mix. I took one look at her and said, I don't think so... Looks like a Kelpie to me!
She came from a shelter in Safford, Arizona, which has a lot of cattle ranches, which kinda makes sense. She must be a Kelpie since she has  boundless energy! and is smart
as a whip.. A great dog. My daughter calls her the "Dingo princess"

Not really needed. But, I do spread a little hi heat silicone on the pipe end. It can't hurt!

Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / crank work
« on: September 17, 2015, 06:01:08 am »
I have a friend in New Zealand that is trying to get a VF 414 crank rebuilt. Shop he took it to has already ruined the new crankpin. Anyone know of a competent shop in NZ or Australia that can rebuild a Montesa crank? He is lucky they didn't mess up one of the crank halves! Yet...

I find it ironic, that in the day,you could not give away an 18M. The bike was too heavy, underpowered and had a 4 speed transmission. The Montesa dealer I worked at had two on the floor that sat for over a year until we slashed the price to $650.00 USD. Now they are collectable! Who knew.....

Problem is that motorcycles don't use 14-15 gauge spokes.

The cylinder to have is from the 1976 VA 250. Bigger exhaust port, (no bridge) much larger intake. Transmission ratio's were the same on all VR's.
