General Discussion / XR75 & XR80's - engine builders ?
« on: September 22, 2021, 01:23:25 pm »
Hi all - being new to the group I hope I’m using the right format and if not feel free to ignore ir delate.
Could anyone guide me in the right direction for someone whom I can trust to build 1 x XR75 and 1 x XR80 engines for me.
I have all the cases/gearboxes/barrels and heads being prepared (Also need to vapor blast) although I need someone to assemble whom knows the do/don’ts for these engines.
I would prefer to build a relationship with someone from withing the group who knows these engines well and what to use/buy and how to source some of the challenging parts like oil pumps, coolers etc.
Thanks again for the help and support (Anyone close to Dandenong, Frankston in Vic would be great)

Introductions / New to Forum - XR75 & XR80's
« on: September 20, 2021, 10:05:51 am »
Hi all - I’ve been away from VMX for a few years now with injuries and have now taken on the task of restoring 2 x Xr75's & 1 x Xr80 and have started with a clean frame, DG swing arm, Betor forks and have S&W and Fox air shocks to choose from. i have a few engines with clean cases and once we get past lockdown i will start with the vapor blasting etc and searching for Betor fork boots etc which are hard to find and my plan is to try and make one of the bikes period correct. i also recently bought one of the replica XRDG mini racers that has Derrim Porters signature on the gas tank and i bought it from Greys online so with this i don’t know who was the last owner although i think RI built the bike and it has a XR100 motor with a BBR120 kit and i plan to clean this up and probably ride occasionally when there is a class or race meeting. i hope you guys are all well and hope to chat soon especially if there are any XR enthusiasts out there.
