General Discussion / Re: Were are all the YZ 490's
« on: May 02, 2016, 06:41:04 pm »
I think most of them must be over here in the UK, even though they received damming test reports back in the day from various magazines, riders still seem to like them. You see a good turn out at most vintage Evo race meets, guys are now spending a lot of time & money on sorting out the suspension & motor problems they came with. Check out the gallery page at www.classicdirtbikerider.com & you will see what I mean, I wrote quite a long article on the history of the Yamaha YZ490, you can find it on the features page of the above website. I think UK Evo riders & restorers are beginning to like them even more now because they are still plenty fast enough & have the advantage of not having things like a power valve or liquid cooling system to worry about plus they are far cheaper to buy than a CR or KX500. All the best, Mr J

Hello to all vintage dirt bike fans in Australia, this is Mr J from a wet & cold England calling. Just a quick message to invite you all to come see my website www.classicdirtbikerider.com  a free on-line magazine dedicated to the ordinary clubman riders who help keep vintage motocross alive. It was set up by me in the spring of 2015 to give an overview or flavour of what's going on in the UKs vintage motocross scene, it`s packed with 1000s of photos for you to enjoy & I hope interesting articles to read. I update the site pretty much every month so make sure you keep dropping by, so until next time all the best from Mr J
