Tech Talk / Re: Works performance shocks

How have you found RAD suspension? I'm having trouble finding someone that's able re-build my old Works shocks.
Dealing with Works in California has been a nightmare.

Not sure on the exact blue but here are some that might be close.

Are you suggesting that if a bike originally used a paper gasket it would be wise to use a paper gasket on the rebuild?
The bike is '74 YZ125a. I don't have my manual handy but i'm pretty sure they used liquid gaskets. I could be wrong tho.

There are several ways of doing this but the simple way is always the best.

So check out this youtube site by Ken O' Conner. https://youtu.be/iKeg7z4x5JQ

I've used this in the last 5 rebuilds and it just works so easily

Thanks guys! Looks like i'll be heating up those bearings and slipping the crank in. Sounds easy enough.
Here's to hoping it all goes to plan.

Tech Talk / Crank install advice
« on: December 05, 2016, 05:20:45 pm »
Hey guys,

About to tackle my first bottom end rebuild.
I'm after some on advice on the best method for installing the crank.

Option 1: Crank puller.
I've seen these on Ebay but they're a bit pricey. Thought i'd get some advice before diving in.

Option 2: Heating bearings.
I saw this in alexbrown64's yz125k build thread http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?topic=36259.msg375743#msg375743
Heat sockets up and expand the inner bearing race, slide the crank in.
I'll like this method but it seems to good to be true. hah

Option 3: Hit and hope.
Just smack it in with a mallet...

Any help would be ace.

Wanted / Re: '74-77 DT250 forks & triples
« on: July 12, 2016, 11:03:07 am »
Hey Freaky, thanks for the offer but i've just bought a set of forks & triples off Trokel510.
Do you mind passing on Peter Hoey's contact details? $250 seems like a good price. From what i've been reading they can usually run around $350-400 to be re-chromed.
Thanks again for the offer.

Ideally i'd like a pair that don't need re-chroming. But finding a pair that are in nice original condition is proving to be quite difficult.
How much do you want & where are you located?

Hey guys,

I'm chasing a clean set of 34mm 74-77 DT250/360/400 forks & triple clamps for a dirt tracker build.
They've been quite elusive so far, just thought i'd take a stab here before looking into getting a pair from the states.

cheers.

were are you and what club are you going to join

I live in Melbourne so i'm planning to ride at Broadford, not sure on which MA club to join yet. Any suggestions?
I was in the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Qld club, but that was a few years ago before i moved down.

I've also read that Ride Park at Parwan has a flat track. Has anyone ridden there?

Vintage Track / Advice for 125cc pre 75/78 build
« on: February 21, 2016, 01:37:02 pm »
Hi guys,

I want start racing flat track, so i'm thinking putting something together to race in the pre 75/78 125cc class.

Any advice on a desirable bike to be looking out for, or what i should be avoiding would be great. I'm new to the scene and don't have a great deal of knowledge in this era of bikes.

This is what i have in mind...

The listing said it was a 1974 mx175 with yz125 tank
