Ekka,
I'm assuming they're standard measurements (offset etc) for YZ465 H - they look like it from the Pics - can you please confirm the measurements please?

Just get either a rebuild kit or an entire new tap from Kedo Parts Aus - Mick from Valley Motorcycles in Raymond Terrace is the man.

In Queensland we pay ambulance cover in our electricity bills apparently - does anyone know if this is sufficient cover or should QLDers take out additional ?

Wanted / Re: 89 YZ 250 fuel tank
« on: April 18, 2016, 12:39:12 pm »
Nathan is right for fitment - all years will FIT but the correct shape tank for 89 is either 88 or 89 - the later ones had the notched section in the rear edge on the left side.

I've got an 89 tank. Needs restoring.

General Discussion / Re: Bike prices.
« on: February 09, 2016, 11:08:33 pm »
It's an interesting concept: a bloke getting upset or concerned at the price another bloke gets for his bike... The old adage "it's only worth what someone is willing to pay" comes to mind.

The OP's  predetermined price range in mind for each set/group/class of bikes is pretty spot on but I ask: what's the big deal if someone asks way above that range for their bike? Good luck to them I say, if they're a motivated seller they'll eventually meet the market - buyers determine what something is worth, not sellers.

What's more frustrating to me is the "what's this worth?" posts - fishing for bites instead of researching the market....
And the most weird: when some guy posts a pic of a handful of cash with the words "I've got $2500 what's out there?" Does that actually work????

So it turned out the set I had coming over from the US was off a 125 up to '88.

I've still got the Chinese set avail if you're desperate.

General Discussion / Re: eBay international shipping
« on: November 04, 2015, 11:56:27 pm »
I like to read eBay related threads as it comforts me a little bit to know I'm not the only sucker around here who gets shafted by them...

I can add this suggestion to the topic - use a parcel consolidation mob like myus.com for example.

It gives you a local US address to ship all your purchases to. Not only that, it gives you an American address and phone umber which you can add into your eBay account as a verified address - which opens up a whole heap more sellers than if you use your Australian address - even if you set your search parameters to "US only" eBay will still geographically identify your computer IP as Australian and so only show roughly about 80-90% of listings, set it to your US address and tap into the other 10-20%!)

Once you've accumulated all your stuff to your US address you just give them the instruction to ship it to your home address. During my XT resto I shipped a box roughly about the size of an esky packed with over 120 items from lots of different eBay sellers as well as wreckers and Partzilla for about $120 - I worked out if I had shipped all the purchases directly to my home I would paid around $250 in shipping. Not to mention the few key items I scored by being able to search "US only" listings....

Hi badbowie,

If you don't have any luck I have an aftermarket set you can have for postage costs.
I removed them from my 88 250 to put stock ones back on. They are very likely just the cheapo ones off eBay (they were fitted to the bike when I bought it) buttery certainly fitted to the bike alright.
Only thing was left side lower shroud mount didn't line up so PO had just zip tied it.

Good luck with your search.

Introductions / Hello from the Gold Coast
« on: September 30, 2015, 10:30:32 pm »
Hi all. I'm not new to bikes but I'm certainly new to VMX.
I grew up with dirtbikes, riding through the river bends around Hay on the Murrumbidgee with my dad and brothers, and also on my cousin's farm near Condoblin. After being into road bikes for the last 20odd years I recently decided to get back the bikes I enjoyed most from my youth:
I now have a registered XT500C, my dad's old TT500C which I'm currently restoring, and a YZ250U which I will start restoring once I've reassembled the TT.
I hope to dabble in a bit of VMX racing sometime soon, maybe on the TT, maybe on the YZ.
Cheers
