Hi gus58

You are correct your Montesa with engine number 54M 0856 is a 1975 Enduro 250. Great to see another Monty being saved, post up some photos of it.
just a bit of history on that particular bike with serial number 54M 0856 it arrived in Australia around late April 1975.

Hi Terry

Your engine is from a early 1975 Cappra 250 V-75.
Hope that helps.

Hi Jimson
The one piece nut was used on the 1971-1972 Triumph and BSA models with front conical hubs and originally made from steel, however there are new ones made from alloy these days like yours. They will all do the same job as they have the same thread size.

That spacer is not standard on a T140 1977, it may have been added to beef up the springs a little.
standard fork tube length is 555mm
standard spring length 485mm
The top nut should be in two parts, top hex nut in steel with the other part made out of alloy.
If you remove the top nut you will find it has an allen key hex inside, normally the chrome instrument bracket is mounted between this two nuts. (hope that makes sense).
