Tech Talk / RM500 / RM465 rear shock
« on: November 24, 2014, 02:56:45 pm »
Hi all,
I am looking for a slotted nut that locks the spring-guide-nut into place. Does anyone have one (of either nut) that they are willing to part with? Also, does anyone know if the equivalent part is the same on the 465? If it is the same pitch and thread diameter it will allow me to look at 465 stuff...
Any help greatly appreciated... thanks.

Hi Ken!

Think I might have met you and your partner at Harrisville a couple of weeks ago.

Cheers mate.

Great! Thanks... yes well, I rode it very briefly before I bought it while it wasn't performing to it's potential and that was a blast. Can't wait. Ta.

G'day gang!
I have recently purchased a dream bike of mine... '83 RM500! Although the bike appeared to be in good condition when I purchased it, I have since completely disassembled the bike due to finding some nasty's under her skin when performing the ubiquitous mechanical. Since then I have made significant progress with my 'bare frame / nut and bolt rebuild'. I have been spectating at Harrisville and QMP historic events and speaking with people to aid my entry into competing myself. Your forum was specifically recommended to me by the gentleman at the QVMX tent that was pride of place at this weekend's Historic Road Bike Meeting at Lakeside. I wish to join so that I can ask questions of members for some of the now fiddly bits to help me achieve the result she (Randy Miranda) deserves!

Q1 - Looking for wide footpegs to bolt-on rather than modifying the originals. I'd rather keep them for 'good' for originality when not using the bike for VMX. Any help?

Cheers and looking forward to sharing my experience as well as asking...
Chris
