I also have a kx250a5 but I put a kdx450 motor in it with a thicker liner to accept a 74 kx450 piston which makes it a 477,I also had overheating problems,the fuel was actually boiling in the fuel tank,run clear fuel line and in line fuel filter to view,have not come up with a fix yet,also the 1980 kdx400 had a different pipe with a longer straight section much better performance,

Yes I read all of klx250 a shared disease,a lot of good info,still doesn't talk about stroking bike or carb size make and model ,everything else is spelled out,also concerned about weak gearbox,vmx42 said it has something to do with drop in mechanism,has anyone repaired problem or found weak spots? Thanks Brett

Hello my name is Brett,firs timer on ozvmx,read a lot though,I recently picked up 3 79-80 klx250s and would like to do motor work,after reading all of your posts,derail gave part# for wiseco 72mm piston,cam,,also valves and springs,but not sure which carb to use,derail was running a 36mm but I don't know what brand or model also interested in stroking motor as derail did but do not know which rod he used? Just in the planning stage could use some good advice from someone who has already done this thanks Brett
