Have a cheap aftermarket DC jobbie.

I'd be interested in the mounts.

As the title says. For a XR600 RG but the 250 350 will be the same or similar. Anything considered.

Maybe try POR15 2K hardnose range of paint. Apparently it's pretty strong.

Use 2K paint instead of acrylic if  you decide to paint it.

Thanks to TT5 Matt for organising these parts for me. Real happy with what turned up and was exactly what I was after.
Cheers. :D

Sorry DIRTPILOT72. From memory the 86 200 had a flatter rear guard and a lower tail light. These sat up pretty high. I think Matt has one for me.

Ok, I know I need to join a club to gain access to the Vintage Permit scheme. What Vinduro clubs are close to me that run this scheme? I am in Carrum Vic close to Frankston.

Haha! Air cooled 2 strokes running around a CBD usually don't impress people. Unless you were dressed like a 'Hipster'.

General Discussion / Re: Brand name tools
« on: December 12, 2015, 06:03:54 pm »
When I was in the panel game. I bought a few Snap On tools as they let you run an account with weekly payments and no interest, as if they needed to. Wicked strong spanners. My socket sets are Koken brand (popular around the trade in NZ) and have lasted the years of abuse but some of the rachets have been swapped for Snap On items. I do have some cheap tools at home that do the job quite well. You just have to match the right weapon to the right job.

The hard parts to get for these is the digital dash, the converter and bracket. The cable and drive (at the axle) are easy to get. I'll check as I may have the converter which I think is no longer available from Honda.

I'm after the complete tail light and number plate holder for a 86 XR 600. You know the big ugly one that used to get chopped up or replaced. I suspect the later 600's will be similar and the 250/350 will have some similarity too. Let me know if you have anything.
Thanks, Gavin.

Tech Talk / Re: Paint primer tips ?
« on: December 11, 2015, 11:34:56 am »
When I was in the trade our painters used Glasurit etch primers. There was a red oxide colour they used for steel. A yellow colour for aluminium (had an additive added before use) and a green epoxy primer which was more durable and a sealer. At home I have used  K&H and Transtar brands in an aerosol can that did the job fine. I have seen a self etching hi build primer in the Just Cars mag called 'All U Need'. That would cut back on time and money but I don't know how it is as a product. I like etch for wet on wet applications.

Which drive? The drive at the axle or the electronic converter?
