It's ALIVE ;D The new ignition solved all. Big thumbs up to Prime8 Racing for tracking down the ignition for me.

Husqvarna / WRK 250 issues
« on: November 03, 2016, 11:53:57 am »
Bit of a newbie when it comes to two strokes, have an 89 Husky (Cagiva) WRK 250, pretty much new engine, new bearings, seals, piston, cylinder re done by electrosil, new mikuni TM 38 flat slide. When I check for spark I am getting spark if I kick it over quick enough. Plug is wet if I kick for long enough so it is getting fuel. Carby was jetted to suit by mikuni oz, air screw is 1.5 turns out.

All I get is the occasional backfire. Bike has the original motoplat ignition, magnets are not in great condition, they shattered at some stage and were glued back in. Would this be the most likely cause of my problems?

Tech Talk / Carby question

Need some advice, 89 Husky WRK 250 had a delorto unit and is shagged but the bike came with a 2nd hand minkuni flat slide. Motor is soon to go back together once the cylinder comes back from electrosil. Not wanting to damage the fresh engine I want to be sure jetting is close before I start it. If the jets in the minkuni are a similar size to the ones in the delorto will this be close enough?

Tech Talk / Piston trouble

Ok all Husky experts I need help. Trying to get bits for a 1989 WRK 250 the only good cylinder I have seems to be off a 260 as it has a 71mm piston and this piston is simply not available. Does anyone know of a solution?

Don I just got unlucky no one is to blame.I have sourced another engine today that is ok, should have enough bits now to make one good engine.

Lost this battle but will not loose the war :), this bike will run again one day but probably no time soon. Wife would kill me if I gave up on a Husky!

Looks as if a swing arm bolt will be the least of my troubles now. Pulled down the motor last night and it is totally munted. Barrel shagged, crank stuffed, water had been sitting in gearbox, magnets were glued into stator with silicone that had let go and chewed everthing up. The joys of buying old stuff, sometimes you win and sometimes you loose :(.
