« on: January 23, 2022, 02:28:43 pm »
Afternoon all, a mate is restoring his DT1 and the spiral clutch actuator is cracked , he would like to find a replacement or a solution. From memory someone was making them from bronze, or a possible link to a site please.
Cheers.

General Discussion / Re: Vintage Motorcycle Scam - Beware!!
« on: October 23, 2021, 04:27:19 pm »
This bloke has ripped off a lot of people, bikes cars and vintage guitars, there’s a lot on the Facebook sites of VMX etc . His father Rod Hunwick owned Action Suzuki at one stage and was also involved in the Hunwick Hallam superbike. I think “ Clay “ also operates under other names, am surprised he is still getting away with it, and police have been informed a number of times, I believe he’s on the Gold Coast. Stay away.

The best known ones and they have all the gear is Johnston’s at Smithfield. A mate used them with no dramas but they were not cheap.

Taubmans SOLPAH paving paint, although it comes up as in NZ.Wattyl own Taubmans and also White Knight , all have paving paint and more than likely the same recipe. This stuff would be cheaper than the heavy wear paints.

50 per cent acetone and auto transmission fluid as a penetrate or diesel, my favourite and cheap.

To clean the carbon try some of that spray on foaming  alloy wheel cleaner, it easily moves baked on brake dust but I would watch it though.
Wanted to buy a CZ back in the day, $1000 in a crate with spare wheels and engine parts plus plus.
Father put a stop to that big time.

Yamaha / Yamaha is daddy racer sticker.
« on: April 24, 2018, 09:11:38 pm »
Argument between my mates, back in the day there were stickers, YAMAHA IS DADDY RACER.
They were a reflective silver colour and black print . This was during the days of us running our DT 400 D and E models.
I say yes some say no , google is no help.
True or false, and I would love a picture of one.
Thanks.

Not VMX but, this fellow has passed away yesterday, and a former road racer with a special ability.
Years ago he suffered the loss of an arm and a leg in a bike accident , that didn’t stop him from racing.

He competed and got permission of a special number 1/2, or half. Was going to Le Mans and the TT this year.  A talented man.
Check out his page on Facebook.
Vale.

Went to a job once at a Shell Servo where a truck had knocked down a high voltage pole on P Hills Rd. The bare 11kv wiring fell onto 415, then into the Servo, two of the three meters blown off the board.
The driveway was built over sloping ground, Voltage then got into the copper water and compressed air piping.

What was also underneath were all the fuel tanks, copper piping  was non existent, had sprayed itself over the 3 inch gal fill pipes. Luckily didn’t go bang!!!
Total rewrite of the buildings, new  pumps etc, etc.

Good luck with your tv , etc.

Any old low capacity 2-3.5 kva generator is ok to run a house fridge and a freezer generally. Get one started , let it settle for a while then get the other one on line. If you want to boil a jug then unplug the fridges etc. Average jug is around 1700 watts plus.

Dirty power and non stable frequency ( plus / minus 50 Hz ) will stuff a modern tv or computer.Buy a UPS from an electronics joint say Jaycar about 500 va or watts . This will accept the dirty power clean it up to run sensitive gear.Do not plug in any fridges or jugs , not enough capacity .

They contain a 12 volt dc battery , rectifier charger and inverter to output 240 v ac.
You will need this to run your phone via the NBN setup when it arrives as no 240 , no phone.

The three amigos. Bultaco Metralla , most common. Then the Montesa Rapita, much less made and lastly Ossa Wildfire , even less. Think the Montesa even had auto oil injection.

General Discussion / Re: Dual Cab Ute
« on: July 24, 2017, 09:05:19 pm »
Most of the Jap extra cab and dual cable are not legal past a tray length of 60% of the wheelbase. Our BT50 freestyle trays are 2100 long, my Navara dual cab tray was 2000 long . My new BT50 dual cab with a tub is 1500 long, about 1950 diagonal. Hearing reports of blokes being booked for rear tailgate down , therefore obscured number plate, depends on the Cop I suppose.

The Hilux with ramp / frame arrangement could be made to suit a dual cab I reckon, pull it out after use .
Had a F250 Supercab, could carry 5, 2450 inside the tub and once I loaded 300 lengths of 2400 cable tray. They are a ute!!! Saw one a few years ago with a tub and a platform level with cab height , two enduro bikes sitting up there, Lord knows how he got them up or down.
