For Sale / Brisbane: Yamaha XT550 project Paris Dakar or Eddy Hau
« on: March 12, 2017, 03:17:19 pm »
You are buying an awesome project, with which you can take a number of avenues:

You will receive a modified XT550 frame and original engine with great compression. The frame is fitted with a YZ250 front end and an IT465 swing arm and shock.

The bike comes with 2x air boxes, 2x sets of side panels, a number of wheels, IT175 seat and new seat cover, 2x mufflers, 2x cdi, 2x loom, 2x carbies, extra IT250 front end and IT250 shock etc etc. You will need a trailer or big ute to transport all the boxes.

My plan was to build a replica of the 1982 XT550 which ran in the (REAL) Paris - Dakar race (see http://www.rallye-tenere.net/BgXT550.html)

Alternatively, you could build a replica of the XT550 enduro, piloted by German Enduro champion and Paris - Dakar pilot Eddy Hau. Google it!

The buyer has the option to purchase another XT600 engine as well as Yamaha IT plastics for the Paris - Dakar replica or Eddy Hau replica.

Too many bikes, not enough time and I need the room in the shed. I am happy to help with transport (for a fee) around the Brisbane / Gold Coast / Sunshine Coast area or can deliver to a freight company, which YOU arrange and AFTER full payment has been received.

$1550 ono

Please no silly offers. If you have any questions, send me a txt to O four O eight, 307 232 and I will call you back.

Hello,

I own a couple of bikes, mainly Yamaha IT/TT/XT but also a few "exotic" bikes. Currently I am riding a Honda XLV 750 R, which I just finished refurbishing. The bike runs well but I hope to find somebody in the Samford area who knows their way around setting up carburetors. My problem is that it idles rather high. Yes, I could turn the idle screw down but don't know if the rest is set up properly. Anyway, if anybody is willing and able to take a look and maybe share insight in future projects etc please send me your details.

Cheers,

Thomas

eBay Finds / Re: Ebay item not as described.
« on: November 08, 2015, 09:21:19 am »
Works both ways, though.

I would like to quote one of today’s great minds, Mr. William Ray Engvall Jr when I say: I just hate stupid people! They should have to wear a sign that says “I’m stupid!”.
That way you wouldn’t rely on them, would you? You wouldn’t ask them anything, you’d be like “Excuse me...oops, never mind, I didn’t see your sign.”

Like before my wife and I moved from Sydney to Brisbane, our house was full of boxes, there was a U-haul truck in our driveway. My friend comes over and goes “Are you moving?” “Nope...no, we just pack our stuff up once or twice a week, to see how many boxes it takes. Here’s your sign!”

Or when I was stuck in traffic the other day! A truck had wedged it’s trailer under a bridge and traffic was backed up for miles. A motorcycle copper arrives, walks up to the truckie and goes “Got your truck stuck?” Without missing a beat the truckie goes “Nope, I was delivering this overpass and ran out gas...here’s your sign!”

That’s why there are warning labels on products, it’s not for us, it’s for stupid people. Let me give you a few examples.

On a tube of the haemorrhoid ointment Preparation H it says in big bold letters “Do not take this orally!” But you know, that somebody wrote them a letter:
“Dear Preparation H, I ate this whole dang tube but I still got these haemorrhoids! My mouth is sooo small...I can barely eat a jelly bean...but I can whistle real good.”

I bought a receiver the other day, and it had those satchels with drying agent in the box. You know, what is printed on them! “Do Not Eat This”. Really? Have you ever bought a piece of stereo equipment, thinking there might be something to eat in there? But somebody went “Well loooook! I got a receiver and a pack of Chiclets! I got music and gum!!!

On the package of a fanbelt it says “When you change the fanbelt, be sure to shut the motor off first!”
Wouldn’t you love to have been there, when that first happened? Guy comes in the house, hands all cut up...”Hey Earl, what happened?” “Uuuhhh, I’m gonna give you boys a little tip: when you change the fanbelt, you better shut that motor off first...you can’t stop it with your hands, man...it’s like a machine or something...!”

I listed these items on Ebay the other day (see #252130040095):

Brisbane: Adidas Climalite bulk shirts & shorts sizes S, 11-12Y near new

Seller Notes:   “The red shirt has some runners so I am throwing it in foc. It is not part of the auction. Let me know if you don't want it.”

You are bidding on 3 Adidas shirts size S, 1 pair of Adidas shorts (label removed, I am guessing size 10) and 1 pair of Veto shorts, size 10. All Adidas clothes are Climalite, the Veto shorts are of a similar material. All are in excellent, near new condition. You will also receive the red Adidas Climalite shirt (11-12Y), which has some runners, see picture. Let me know if you don't want it.

Our home is smoke free but not pet free, but our pets have never worn any of these clothes. Our son grows like a weed and has worn most of these only a few times, if at all.

Buyer to make contact within 24 hours or the item will be relisted. Pick up from 4520 Highvale or postage.

HAPPY BIDDING!

Along comes an Ebayer, turbotool2013, no wait, tooltoohey2013 and buys the items for $30 incl. free shipping to Aldinga Beach, SA.

Upon receipt of the items, tooltoohey2013 leaves negative feedback and then sends me this message:
“Pretty disappointed in your items.. All clothes varied in sizes that you had deck scribed to be .. Red too had a pull in the front of the shirt - worthless- these items were far from the near new as described .. Will not use you as a purchasing source again.. Very unhappy”

See!!! If he’d been wearing a sign, I could have stopped him!

I could have said: “Now you are not going to understand this but...when I wrote ““The red shirt has some runners so I am throwing it in foc. It is not part of the auction. Let me know if you don't want it.”, what I really meant to say was that the red shirt has some runners so I am throwing it in foc, it is not part of the auction and to let me know if you don't want it.

But you know who the real idiot is? ME...coz I gave turbotool2013 positive feedback.

Somebody get me a sign!

Not too long ago, if you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk. Give it a while and you will say "Wow, 'Made in China', must be good!"

Hello,

I am after a RED oem headlight shroud for numerous Honda XLs and XRs. It is the large "ugly", one piece version. The XR650L f.e. used to have them, also most early "larger" XLs such as 250, 350 and 600. Picture is a guide only. Should be without cracks and not brittle. Let me know what you have. thomas_kuenzel at yahoo dot com, I am in Brisbane.

Cheers,

Thomas
