Suzuki / Re: Suzuki TM125 Front End/Forks Needed
« on: July 16, 2018, 02:56:32 pm »
We'll from my experience ; unless you really like searching the web every day and paying some ridiculous prices for stuff you will be hard pressed to find  ; start searching for some TC/TS 125 forks of the same era : The tubes ,  are inter changeable  with the advantage of having a three stage pre-load adjustment on the fork tops  ; add $6 worth of coins for "adjustable spacers" on top of the slightly heavier springs and some 20 weight oil (I'm 75kg.)and you will probably find the little TM will do just fine unless you come up against Marty Smith !
I love "tricking up " as much as the next guy  but two things I know for certain A)lose 10kilos of body mass is better than trying to lose 10kg of un-sprung weight B) its better to ride whatever you have than to wait for years to trick your bike up to go fast ,its always been 90%rider10%bike.
My 2cents worth  :)

For Sale / 1985 XL600 BRISBANE
« on: January 10, 2014, 11:52:22 am »
Guys , I have a pretty original XL600R sitting in the shed would not need a lot to re-register; rego ran out 08/01/14 but I could see things that need doing for re-rego or maybe you prefer a Vinduro mount (elephant in the woods!) or dirt track etc.
Anyway $1800 take it away. Illness in family forces sale.

General Discussion / Re: Stunningly stupid tips.

Anyone remember that stuff called finnelec :-[... instant puncture sealer and inflator all in one (thaks Mr. Bultaco ;)) ... what they didnt tell you was it was only good for a small "normal"punctures.
I found out the hard way ; when the sheer unbridaled power of my SL125 tore the valve stem from the tube (who ever thought of a rim lock ) , no amount of finne..f@#$k&% lec will patch it .... instead you just watch the foam gooo.... ooz from every spoke (and valve) hole covering your entire rear wheel . IT NEVER CAME OFF EITHER!  :'(

Remember the pit nazi's of the 70's: Plug your handlebars kid; why? ; cause it does much less damage to the other guys intestines :o.
You can only have metal valve caps on your tubes ; why?; cause the plastic ones are a fire hazard ::);
You must have a split pin on your axel nuts: why?; cause we would much rather you gouge a leg , face our other appendage of yourself and other riders than see you lose your nuts and have your axel  just "fall" out without you knowing it!!...P.S. we do accept a safety pin instead of a split pin though :-\
And the daddy of them all... You must have square number plates ;why?;cause the lap scorers cant read round ones!!!....... must have better lap scorer's these days ... or are we just slow enough that they can read them now? ;D

Hope it helps  ::)

Go find some roadworks and grab yourself a couple of "witches hats" ;); very plyable and tough , can be cut to shape. I've also seen "wheelie bins" cut and shaped.

Tech Talk / Re: CR 125 suspension help
« on: August 14, 2012, 05:00:04 pm »
Think your OL mates got a CR 125M 2/3 (1976/77) ;D same shocks from memory; I have a set on my TM 125 ; I tried everywhere and all over the Net a couple of years ago to get the oil capacity / gas capacity without any success :-[ so I gave up and gave them to RAD suspension ;) (07- 38926493) up here in Brisbane , they did a complete overhaul but still a tad too hard for my TM / so I eventually ran on softest setting and NO gas for most of the season.
Hope it helps

How long is a piece of string ??? ... but for me I always go for the biggest bang for bucks and sheer allround practicality  :-\...... so for me I have chosen the often overlooked big floater ;D.. a ford wagon .... from EA to BA  have owned four of them now.. you can buy them cheap.. a real (6ft) bloke and his missus can sleep in the back comfortably , it can tow a big trailer and five peeps EASY!.. cheap as chips for parts etcetc ;).
