Tech Talk / Re: 1980 RM 400 fouling plugs

Thanks for the replies. Conondale was really the first time I have had a good ride on it since restoring it. The bike was originally my Dad's who bought it new. I'm also running a new Mikuni VM36 carb which doesn't like the standard jetting from the manual. Will play around with the jetting and go from there.

Tech Talk / 1980 RM 400 fouling plugs
« on: June 11, 2024, 08:11:45 pm »
I was at Classic Weekend this past weekend and fouled a plug each day. I got talking to a guy that hangs around Geoff Ballard and he told me I should be running the bike at 40:1 and use Motul oil which might help with the fouling?? Currently run the bike at 32:1 using Castrol TTS. Getting confusing as I'm getting told lots of different info.

Is it alright if the front sprocket is held on by a circlip instead of the nut? Just noticed this on my RM 400 when I've come to replace the countershaft seal. The nut seems hard to find these days which is why I think it's there instead of the nut when it was rebuilt.

I recently just bought an 06 KTM 250 EXC. It came with no tail light and I've just installed an aftermarket tail light and when I put the brakes on the tail light will turn off! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Thanks Wasp for the link. I also come across the RG362 Off-Road Twin Shocks on your website but they are not in the store in the link you provided. Are they still available?

Tech Talk / Twin shocks for RM400T

Hi all, I'm considering getting new shocks on my RM 400T. I have had the original shocks rebuilt by Rad in Brisbane but have always wanted to upgrade them if I could. I have had a bit of a google and have found YSS have shocks for the 400T. Any other brands worth considering?

Thanks

Tech Talk / Pro-Form exhaust fit
« on: September 08, 2018, 10:44:18 am »
Hi all. I have a Pro-Form exhaust on my RM 400T at the cylinder head I can't seem to get a good seal, a little bit of smoke seems to leak out and oil gets on the front mudguard. Is there some sort of sealant I can use to stop it leaking?

Thanks

Tech Talk / Changing exhaust

Just wondering how does changing an exhaust pipe affect the jetting? For example going from a stock exhaust to a pro form exhaust.

Thanks

Suzuki / Re: RM 400T swingarm
« on: May 05, 2016, 09:53:21 am »
The bike was my dad's and he bought it brand new. I have been slowly restoring it over the past 6 years. I suspect that the swingarm bearing/bushes etc are still original so I will get those all replaced and see how it looks then. Anyone recommend anyone in Brisbane to replace swingarm bearings?

Thanks for the replies.
