Tech Talk / Re: Trials tyre for dirt track/short circuit??
« on: April 08, 2014, 12:32:39 pm »
The trials contingent at work keep telling so but I'm not so sure about muddy conditions  :-\ the sure an impressive bit of kit to watch a trials tyre work as its intended to, the lack of self cleaning is the only thing I fear about using one for trail rides.

Have you seen a Trials tyre flex? THAT is where the self cleaning comes from. In continuous gloopy mud, they won't work but for everywhere else - YeeHaaaaaaa!

If you trailride, you'll soon get the wear out of that tyre, Rookie - just wait till you try one in the bush!

Vinduro / Re: Aussie 4 Day Starters
« on: March 25, 2014, 01:07:09 am »
Great idea, Relfy. I like the motivation behind the fundraising too (I'm a black dog owner).

I'd LOVE to have another crack, but like last year, time and work commitments rule me out. I've done 4 previously and the added challenge of finishing on a Vinduro is getting me revved up. I'll keep my nomination in abeyance until next year.

I've backed away from the forum, not as a vociferous post whore but someone who lived and breathed the sport and who enjoyed the vibe here. I now live so far away from ANY vintage racing that a round trip to compete is a 4 000 km saga.
The forum is merely a microcosm of what's going on "out there". It's fine to have a point of view and share it but it's just that - a point of view, YOURS. You're entitled to it but don't try to enforce it.
Good natured ribbing I'll take every day but when it gets downright dirty and personal, it's time for the attacker to have a reality check.

General Discussion / Re: Knee Braces
« on: November 14, 2013, 01:13:26 pm »
I've used CTi customs for over a decade and wont trust anything else to safeguard my knees. The security offered by them is second to none, but you pay for that privilege. Are they worth it? 2K versus 5-8K for a reconstruction, I'll take my CTi's EVERY time. If you have any migration problems with the braces, just use an undersock of some description (some have even used stockings!) to prevent the brace from moving and comfort.

POM> If you're paying for the "pleasure", you need to do a little more research. There are snipe programs available that cost nothing and are reliable. I SNIPE!

General Discussion / Re: How to prevent 'monkey-butt' ?
« on: October 30, 2013, 11:51:12 pm »
After I rode my 1st A4DE, I swore I'd work out how to get rid of the dreaded monkey butt. Here are my recommendations :-
1) NO Jocks - EVER! Now, I'm not suggesting a commando frenzy but rather boxer styled cotton/lycra blend undies. They make a HUGE difference. Just ensure there is no seams anywhere around the gooch section!

2) Hemorrhoid cream. Apply enough to leave the cheeks feeling "rosy". The antibacterial properties stop any nasties from infecting. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you EVER entertain using vaseline. Why would you ever rub petrol near the boys?

3) Stand. It's surprising how quickly the MIND adapts. The legs are the biggest muscle group we have but it's the mind that gives in 1st. Standing becomes second nature soon enough.

One of my favourite models, can't wait to see the finished product.
One question - Garage Queen or Rider? Bit dubious about the Paint/Powder coat left on the braking surface of the drum.
