Tech Talk / Re: Fuel Tanks Cracking

Let us know how the plastic welding goes Andrew. I have a crack in my 86 CR500, that is fairly clean, and straight.

G'day Andrew, and bout time you joined. Good people on here. Info too.
Saw the names Merea, Moranbah, Sun Coast, divorce, and knew exactly who you were. Sad to hear of the divorce tho.
Good to see you're getting the Cr sorted finally.

Honda / XL 100

G'day people. Just wondering are engine parts hard to source. I picked up a {I thought complete} K2 100. That's what is marked on the carby to air box rubber boot. I have the 100 motor in a box with engine internals missing, and a 125 motor instead in the frame. Again are parts hard to come by ?

Thanks for tip. Have my direction now.
Thanks Ross ? Vicki ?

Tech Talk / Rust forming on powder coated frame.
« on: December 27, 2015, 11:59:48 am »
Long time since my 72 CR125 Husky has seen proper daylight, til yesterday.
I haven't had time, or motivation, to do anything to any of the projects I own.
So rush of enthusiasm, open container, drag said bike outside, and frig, rust spots on powder coated frame, in quite a few places.
Now... what to do ?
Can I paint over with rattle can paint, after clearing rust away, or, does it need to be coated again ?
If it needs to be redone, (coated), I wont bother.
But, if I go down the road of just repainting the whole frame in acrylic, would all powder coating need to be removed, or prepping lightly, ie, and giving frame and rust a light sand down, a shot of primer, then top coat sufficient to stop any lifting of new paint ?
Any information appreciated.

                                                                                   Cheers, Mark.

Bike Talk / Re: Four stroke options
« on: December 27, 2015, 11:29:35 am »
I remember reading somewhere that the old Honda 350 (XL ?) Super sport motors could hot up well, and went hard. Is that correct ?
Not knowing much about chairs, and big bangers Tim, that Black Wasp looks the business.
Good luck with the project Ken, which ever direction you head.

Excuse my ignorance Doc. I thought the DS was a detuned RM ?
Pipe, and carby mods, I was once told. Obviously I have been given incorrect information.

That's a cool calculator, LWC. No longer in the dark regarding lengthening a swingarm.
Thank you for posting it up.

With longer swingarm, will it still be eligible for pre '75 racing ?
I ask, 1: as I'm not familiar with the rules.
2: I have an MX that  one day I will restore, and have wondered many times if I could lengthen said part.

                                                                                       Cheers, Mark.

Sorry to have missed your last post peely.
Got my kits from both local, (5 hr round trip away) Honda, and Yamaha dealers. The name on pack says, BOLT.
There are various size packs, and also made to suit your model. These kits are for later model bikes . I did see a while ago a vintage style bolt kit, unsure if it was Bolt, or some other mob, who sold them
Here's their web page - http://www.boltmotorcyclehardware.com/
Good luck.
Agh, stoopid me, checked that link, and found it was direct to Bolt warehouse in the Us. Here's the Australian supplier-http://www.proaccessories.com.au/products/bolt.htm

                                                                                                          Cheers, Mark.

Bumping this post. Anyone have an air element for this model.
Its the first year Husky introduced the 125. So parts not exactly easy to find.
Any other parts that someone could possibly have for this model lying around, please either post here, or pm me. Thanks.

                                                                                              Cheers, Mark.
