I have the IT400F and a YZ250E tank and seat fits.

IT seat is a bit shorter at each end but will fit (sort of). Look for the YZ seat tank combo. Don't expect any more than 50 Km out of a tank full of fuel with YZ tank!!! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Don

I had a great time last year with the Evo Challenge and the Presidents race.

Should be a blast and looking forward to it.

I hope everyone save you all that last minute entry stuff and gets their entry in early.

See you at Lithgow.

Wanted / YZ125X Tank
« on: June 12, 2009, 10:55:34 pm »

Hi all

I know that every man and his HL wants one of these but I'm not after a perfect one, just one that is usable for a race bike. The one that came with the bike has had the freezer treatment to get rid of the dints. All they succeeded in doing is crushing in the underside that goes over the frame. Now it takes a rubber mallet to get it on and off.

Just need one in any condition better then mine. (and you can have my old one back if you want it!!!???)
Would consider a YZ125 C tank also (I think they are the same?)

I too reckon it's a great idea, especially when most of us are slow learners. Old Mate!

Names for sure and numbers to.

As for a meeting point (Bar), Firko's mechanical hangover maker location would be a reasonable point to start. Remember to bring fuel to add to the cocktails. Only Hi Octane stuff, none of the unleaded stuff either!

[Mental Note - make sure we camp some distance away from the Cocktail Maker and the cocktail maker]

This is just a thought 247 but with the stator coil, is it still the same way around on the mounting plate as it arrived? My logic is that the cdi's usually pick up of the pulse running one way, (say North South) generating a + direction pulse (sine wave). If you have turned the plate around but are running the rotor in the supplied direction (South North) you may be generating a - pulse ( sine wave), then those little diode thingise will not allow the pulse to trigger.

Try turning the stator coil over on the mounting plate, if it will fit.

It may be worth a try and should cost nothing.

I like the handy work of your mounting system. I like blending old stuff with new and you look like you've done a great job.

Good luck

Hi Dave

How come your doing all the finger work for Ricko. Stop pampering him and let him do the typing and posting of his bike.

Looks like you both have been busy since CD5. KX400 looks to go as well! I'll be looking for a ride on the big bore stuff when I get there. See you in QLD.

Catch you there.

Yamaha / Clutch Springs for a YZ125X
« on: April 28, 2009, 09:44:15 pm »
Hi All

Anyone know where I'd find heavier clutch springs for a 125X or alternatively is there a later yamie model that has heavier springs that would fit.
Eg. the trick springs to put in a TTR250 are XS650!
Is there any solutions apart from spacing the springs out with washers (which is already done)?

Graeme

A little birdy told me recently that Yamaha still sell "g" and "h" plastics and there fairly reasonable in price.
Memory is a bit dusted but $30 odd dollars for a rear OEM guard was the story I heard. They might still have the other plastics.

Worth asking!!!

If the rim is off a later model (disc brake hub) the angle of the nipples in the rim will force the spokes to "bow" and look all out of kilter.

Either get the rim re-drilled to the right angle (a bit of mucking around) or live with it. Just keep checking the tension until they really bed in.....

It was a great weekend.

I brought along a South African mate to keep Fernando company. Lots of talk about guns ( and strange named drinks) !!!????

Saturday afternoon he broke his newly acquired YZ250E so he rode mine for the racing Sunday.

He was having a great time racing the rounds and picking up a couple of good positions ( not having raced dirt bikes for 8 years). Then come the Flaggies race at the end of the day, when you are just sort of having fun he took the ski jump the wrong way and found the gravity a bit strong on the down hill side.

Broken left thumb and a sore neck, but still had the smile that night when I drop him home. 12 weeks on the side line.....and he'll be back!!

Big Thanks to all those behind the scene....

Wanted / YZ125X Transmission
« on: January 28, 2009, 10:55:52 pm »
Hi All

Looking for a YZ125X transmission for a budget racer, in particular 1st gear (shaft and driven gear). The parts are available from the States but I thought I'd try locally first......
Whole bottom end would be better still!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
