I have been through this several times,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
As far as I remember PRE August 77 manufacture,,, no compliance plate = NO PROBLEM IN NSW.
AUGUST 77 AND ONWARDS IN NSW MUST HAVE COMPLIANCE PLATE......

And I refuse to believe otherwise unless you show me in black n white and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A good first step to track down the offending devise would be to turn off all of your 240V circuit breakers/fuses in your meter box. If the car remotes come good? turn one circuit on at a time to narrow down the search of the offending device?

If the offending device cannot be found at your property? Ask your new next door neighbor if he would mind doing the same for you?

Who knows until you start ruling things out?, it could even be a failing battery powered wireless doorbell from next door :o

My experiences have also observed similar effects to Nebo's accounts. I expect he is close to the money.

Another observation is that your parking arrangement is just as close to your Neighbour's 240v GPO house wiring runs as it is to your's. They are used as a grid to emit annoying frequencies, like that used to deter household pests(Pest Free) for example.

Don't forget the now common PLC option that has replaced long pain in the arse difficult cable runs in properties. The emerging market of PLC signal/data transmission adapters that simply plug into any 240v outlet and then in turn wirelessly transmit to its mating counter part plugged into another 240V outlet in any remote location of the property.

There is a steady stream of Incorrectly/insufficiently shielded appliance power supplies among imports.
Talk to your neighbor about any 240V devise that they may have plugged in recently, as well as yourself Zane.

You are looking for another short range radio transmission. It could be coming from any number of wireless devices:
wireless doorbells
wireless fan systems
wireless headphones
garage door openers
car remote controls
interior WiFi systems
LED lights/down lights etc.

Good luck.

Easily done though only necessary(badly flogged).
Of course the setup for machining needs to be on the correct intended center(which can easily be established).

The thing is a lot modern engines seem to be using loctite on their bearings ANYHOW now.
So if they are only just starting to move and in actual case the journals are not REALLY sloppy?
Just use loctite. 601  ,,,, or 609...
Make sure you clean the surfaces well with acetone if you don't have the loctite brand surface primer.

good luck with your build  :)

Lots of great help and some great people on here too,,
Seems like some of the good contributors from the past are sadly gone, though one upside is
so have some of the dickheads ;D

Its amazing how many times I google a bike question and in results it shows debates, discussion and answers of this forum.
Thanks for keeping it alive Kenneth,,

Gooday all,

Has anyone ever noticed which replacement brands are hardest or longer wearing?
Or which brands are junk and wear quickly,,, = metal quality?

I am repairing building some XR600 engine projects for myself.

The counter shafts have flogged out on the spline where the sprocket mounts on.

I am thinking cheap quality sprockets maybe wear quickly, then in turn ruin the shaft as they flog
 back and forth? ?
