Plenty of people have used Boyesens in PE400's with no probs, but you cant expect to drop them in and away you go. You should expect to do some jetting adjustments. Each bike is different.

yea plan on fiddeling around with the jets, got the pipe on it now. fiddled around with the needle setting last week with a few of the old boys at pt. gawler. it improved the top end but bottom end was running rich. an was fowling plugs if idled for too long. boys down there said best thing to do before changing jets in the carb was to make sure reeds were in good cond. as it could affect it. which is all good. i planned on checking them out anyways an wanted to fit something aftermarket in. im mechanically minded so pulling apart an re fitting isnt no drama. it just the tuning that i have to get around. there theory was to go down one on the pilot an one up on the main. sounded pretty good to me so will see how it will go next time i go out.

is this what you use in your pe leith... i am about to change my reeds in the PE or check them out at least anyways. seems the only people who make reeds for the old girls are boyesen. i mean they cant be that bad can they. should feel an improvement over the stock reeds, no? i might give them a try anyways. they dont cost much.

yea, i reckon some blue vinyl is the go for mine. when i got time to head to the bike shop must buy some. i put a rm front plate on mine. love the look of em. looks evil. still have the head light in the shed. need to buy a bracket an number plate that fits on top.
yea the old man picked that up... pretty original. tank has some repaired areas. but starts first time no worries. goes very well for a older 4 stoke. is a 500 has the sp motor in it.

do you think my old man will notice if i take off a delotoro from his duke leight  ;) think once there is some more cash in the bank might either try the 38mm mikuni like frosty or go with a 36mm bing.

22
will do think there is just the stock standard 16 on there now

23
yea had a 49 tooth on it before, went back to a 46 thought id like a little more speed.

24
mmm sounds good frosty... i got a spare motor in the shed as well. minus piston & flywheel. sometimes i imagine of making it some ridiculous monster an try an think exactly what it will go like... lol

25
the motor is stock pe400 besides a GMC pipe that will be here shortly... dont want to muck around with the cylinder just yet. when it comes time for a rebuild then might.

was just wondering how a old 2 stroke will go with a modern day carb. carbys have come along way in 30 years when it come with cars. do 2 stroke act the same or would you have to get the ports matched to suit. or is that only if you intend to go bigger

Like it more when I tell you I bought it for 3 grand.
geez really, how long ago was that... been looking at some at the moment. i really like the F1s something a little different. my old man has a 900sd, customised very tastefully

although my dream would have to be a 750 sport they have gone past being affordable.
