Tech Talk / whats the best sealant / Glue for sticking togeather cases on YZ125 K

Can anyone tell me what to use for joining the crankcase on a K model yz, apart from the M6 caphead screws. Is a good grade of gasket silicone suitable? Just read an old thread seems like yamabond, or loctite 515 or grey three bond is the go...

Tech Talk / YZ125K main bearing cups

Hello all,
It would seem that the cups in my 125k are loose in the casting. Sould i get a machinist to remove the old ones clean up the holes and make new cups then press in, the thing is it only seems like the issue is on the magneto side of the cases. Any help appreciated as i intend to visit the machinist tomorrow AM. I have noted the similar prob with the YZ125E, but i wasnt sure if this was the same remedy

Gday gents,
Looks like i found the issue re my yz250F not performing at high RPM. I put the black box off my 125E onto it.
It now revs like a cracker- would seem like i need another black box. So i wish to purchase one locally if possible.

General Discussion / Belanglo state forest Troy... Passed away after falling off last Sunday???

Gday All,
Does anyone have knowlegde of this incident last sunday. Thing is me and a few mates were riding at belanglo the whole of last weekend. It was a very quiet ride and we only came accross one other party on sunday which had three riders. Just a wave and nod of the head as they passed. We left for home approx 1pm. Apparently this troy fellow, a local from mittagong and two friends were riding when the incodent happenned, he returned home then later went to Hospital and soon died...  The news certainly hit home a bit hard. Very Sad
Just curious if anyone knows anything else

Tech Talk / What is the standard weight oil for rear monoshock on a YZ250F1979? Opinions?

Can someone advise if 5 or 10 or 20 weight was used back in the day as i had my shock serviced and it doesnot really dampen even tough there is a difference in the adjustment, i believe that 5 weight was used. Or what would you use?

General Discussion / DARREN SHEPHERD Fellow motorcyclist passed away BAD DAY AT WSID (sydney dragway

I have been told that Sydney based Dragracer Darren Shepherd, who has been dragging one of those Harley destroyer VEE ROD units sadly died today. Due to an incodent at WSID (not on the strip). Seemingly riding another street registered VROD. Full details are not confirmed at this point. I only met him a few times through friends of mine. He was a descent and polite man. Many Will miss him.

Tech Talk / CR250 1976 convert to mikuni 38mm, Jetting?

Hello fellow VMXers,
I am considering pitting a 38mm mikuni on the red devil. The thing is, i really need an idea of what carby spec to start off with for dirt track by the way. I really do not have the experience to start from scratch. I cannot even seem to find the keihin standard specs.
My bike.
Standard up pipe through frame
will be running on lowlead 100 shell
still runs old points ign
What i needis the size of:
Main Jet
Needle
Needle Jet
Pilot jet
Air Jet
Cutaway i guess 2.5

I was at MCA looking for a filter for a cr250 1976, of cause no luck, but i found a very close match: Twin Air filter for YZ250 95-96 # 152212 just need to block one small screw hole and put a slot...
