Vinduro / Motorplex Madness Part 1 and 2 - VinduroWA
« on: May 21, 2015, 05:34:31 pm »
The next two events have been linked culminating in our first ever competitive event and to ensure its success we are running a non-competitive event in June to check all our systems and ideas.  The second Part being the competitive event in July.

13/14 Jun Part 1 Non-competitive, though there will be some timing done on the Sunday (non-competitive) to help sort everything out for the following event, camping allowed, $5.00 per adult.  One event membership available

18/19 Part 2  a Competitive event.  Free riding, as in no timing Saturday, and Timed event on the Sunday.  Number of loops to be decided from data collected on the 13/14 Jun.  Must be full club member to compete

To compete in the July event you need to be a full member, no one day memberships will be issued.  This event will be for an annual trophy as well as other prizes and will be run as a timed event of consistencies as we have already run.  This will give everyone a chance of winning, if you complete the number of loops required (TBA).

We will need a few extra staff to run this as in timing etc.  So if you or a partner or friend can help, please let us know.  Remember we can’t put these events on without officials

SPONSORSHIP
Sponsorship from MX Retreads(prize), but we need more:
To help this become something special for the club, we need sponsorship to help provide some great trophies and participation mementos.  One way suggested for a trophy was to make one out of motorcycle parts on a wood base (to allow for recording of annual winners).  If you can help or can get a business to help as we are looking for several trophies for a variety of achievements and these are only suggestions:

Annual Trophy,
1st, 2nd, 3rd trophies.
Gold, Silver and bronze medallions for  certain others (maybe 5 of each, dependant on entries)
Participation memento’s (stickers, cups,) for entry
All these are only available if we can get some sponsorship

So if you can help or wish to sponsor a certain part or have an idea for a class, or would make an annual trophy, please let us know.

More information to come

Vinduro / VinduroWA first event
« on: April 06, 2015, 08:31:23 pm »
Photos on our website http://vindurowa.com/  As usual in WA at this time dry, but they had a ball and rode themselves into the ground.  Ride report to follow, 20 riders and great loop marked out by a hard working group was a total success.  Thanks to everyone concerned

Vinduro / National Vinduro Links
« on: March 21, 2015, 10:26:55 pm »
As you who follow the vinduro topic know we are just starting in WA and now have a website.  We would like to put links on the website to other Vinduro based clubs.  This is in the hope that at some time we might have some form of reciprocal type arrangements, in that if our coming to WA and want to have a ride we can provide a bike and vice versa.  What do you reckon
If you have a vinduro club we will place the link on our website which is http://vindurowa.com/

regards

Barry

Wondering if the 1990 KDX would be a carry over the only thing I believe might be different between the:

1989-E1 through to 1991-E3 is the muffler.  Any thoughts.  Appears same frame , motor and suspension I think the front forks changes 92/93.  Different colour plastics is probably the other difference

Thanks to Kevin Shaw who took the time to arrange a lot of the sponsorship.  So please people use these dealers and make certain you mention you’re with VinduroWA, but don’t use my name it might cost you more.

So about the weekend.  A great social gathering, on Saturday culminating in an open air theatre, byo popcorn and alcohol to watch ‘On any Sunday’.  We should have charged admission ended up with around 40 people.  Thanks to Nick for the projector and sound system, we had a back up with Tobies equipment so all bases were covered until Christine decided to cause heart palpitations by placing a copy of the Secretary in the case as a joke!!.

Sunday morning, 25 riders registered and after the safety brief by John, who had marked out a special loop for us *the hard kids track!!!)  Are only hiccup was my poor explanation of what we were doing, which as usual was saved by Nick and Steve.  We were off on a sighting loop, no yellow flags or heaps of officials, just a heap of guys and girls, finally getting out on their pride and joy.  One has to feel sorry for Kevin Shaw, who’s IT only lasted 3km and had to walk back.  Steve’s RM didn’t get much further, looks like we were in trouble.  Ralph lost 3kilo’s trying to start the big Maico, but all with a smile on his face.  Jim Clayton decided he would let his PE have a little rest in the gully while everybody waited for him.  Nick almost found out the hard way, about the gear change being on the other side.

The event was a time trial over three loops, whatever time you set on the first loop you had to get as close to on the other two, points lost for early or late.  Special mention to Alan read who had never been off road and was a bit over awed, but with encouragement he became a fully qualified “Vinduro Wobbler” in more ways than one.  Neil Stevens was a proud ‘pom’ on his XT.  Every one who passed me and made certain I couldn’t breathe or see for the next 200 metres. The huskies of the Barclay clan (we’ll call them a clan as in cave men) were have a blast.  Stan Smith and party decided to have a group rest in a seemly deep rut, Note that one Barry, damn I hit it the next lap and flew off into the dead fall.  Holger had the Ossa circulating, sorry Holger we want the only commercially sold Alron Enduro bike next time.

Thanks to our timing girls Alison and Nicole and the Mathematician Steve for working out a result.  The winner on the day Craig Frost, had never won anything before in his life, was wrapped, second the cunning old stager Doug Barclay and the Wobbler of the Day to Alan Read for his great effort in completing the event and having to put up with so much advise.  Thanks once again to our great sponsors

Thank you to everyone who attended whether riding or just helping out.  Christine has taken a heap of photo’s that are on the face book page, if you want copies just email us and we’ll forward them.  If I’ve missed thanking anyone I do apologise

I’ll now write up about the meeting and send out soon.

VinduroWA (Vintage Enduro Club of WA)

We are looking for people who are interested in riding their classic bikes  in enduro’s or on trail rides.  We are looking at forming a club based on that premise.  The club is looking to promote the sport of vintage enduro’s and open it to all bikes built prior to 31 Dec 1989, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s we don’t care.  There will be no modern bikes.  These will be days of fun and occasional competition on DT1’s, Savages, KLX’s, PE’s, WR’s, XR’s, IT’s and exotic bikes like the SWM, Bultaco etc, the bike does not have to be licenced for the road, so you can run your MX bike if you wish.  If you‘ve got a bike from the era bring it along.  All you require will be the right safety gear, and your bike prepared properly and a sense of humour
We are looking for properties where we can do 10-20km loops and the idea is to conduct social and competitive rides, but basically back in the day rules, the fastest will not always win.  We hope for members to arrange and run events, all levels of experience welcome.  We hope to hold events that commence about 9am and completed by approx. 2pm with members covering around 100kms or whatever they feel like completing.  So if you know of anyone with property or you own property that we might be able to use, please let us know
The club will be affiliating itself with MWA, to ensure insurance cover and regulated meetings.  It is hoped to have a social meeting which will involve a ride in the near future to work out whether we have enough members to form a club, and the way ahead.
If interested and wish to be involved please send your details to [email protected]   There are no politics involved we just want to have a great time with likeminded people.  We would love to hear from you if you have any ideas on the subject.
