I am lucky to have just picked up a Rz.
It has a cracked 23 inch wheel, i am considering just hanging that on the wall and replacing it with a new wheel, What wheel/ Hub will suit...
Does some one know the paint code for the frame and the tank.

I have two questions:
On top of the main long fork spring normally sits a pressed metal cap and a metal spacer then the cap goes on. Mine has another spring approx40mm long instead of the spacer.. Is this normal as the parts manual shows a spacer.

I changed the fork oil used 10wt to the correct level 138 mm from the top when compressed. Once i put the spring back in etc and the cap on, i then compressed the fork assy before putting it back into the bike. as i put weight on approx at 3/4 down the travel it made a sticking type of thing that felt like a stapler. I easilly reproduced the fault but it did not happen at exactly the same point of travel. this happened with both of the legs. Could it be the spring turning at one end and not the other.

Tech Talk / YZ250E squish adjustment
« on: November 15, 2011, 10:19:07 PM »
Gday lads,
In the past when i have adj squish, i have had the fortune of being able to reduce the thickness of the base gasket. My yz is allready down to 0.5mm base gasket std.
The squish maesurement is currently at 2.0mm. I have read that this is excessive.
I am trying to achieve 1.2mm or so.
The head gasket is copper std and it would be hard to change the thickness.
The mateing surface on the head allready adjoins to the squish ring.
I can remove the studs to machine the top of the cylinder and possibly have to helicoil one or more to put them back in.
Or is it the done thing to use a lathe and grip the top of the cylinder inside of the bore in a three Jaw chuck and turn down the base face of the cylinder??

All coments welcome
Brett
