Here's a thought. Now, bear in mind this is just floating an idea and I am not suggesting the ACT club will do this, but I am interested in what others might think.
Here in Canberra the ACTMCC has a fruitful relationship with a major earthmoving company which has seen big improvements to the dirt track and the old Kumagutsa MX track. Now that the club has access to a couple of first class tracks along with ample parking/camping space, there is a great opportunity to host a classic meet with a difference.
Would you be willing to come to Canberra for a weekend of classic dirtbike action in 2016? Dirt track on the Saturday say with MX on the Sunday? Maybe free camping and a BBQ dinner on saturday night, perhaps a show and shine or swapmeet. All classic classes to Pre 90.
What do you think? If there's enough interest it might be something to put to the club committee.
Vote in the poll at the top of the page and let's gauge the interest.

Yep

make it even more interesting make it 1 bike and you cant change anything so same gearing for the mx and d/t

Sounds good. I'd only be interested in the MX side of things.
-
get them to put in for the MX Nats that we missed out on a couple of years ago.. Haven't raced in ACT or NT as yet..
-
Very interested
-
I think that the idea of running an MX or DT Nats is a bit out of the scope of this idea, though I can't speak for any plans the club might have in that regard. This is more about the idea of a competitive but fun low key weekend of riding, something that isn't going to be a hotbed of intrigue for eligibility and which has plenty of good racing without too many sheep stations making it a tense affair...

A bit like double the dirt which BMCC ran a while back DT at nudgee on Sat, MX on Sunday, great stuff!
-
Many Years ago back in the 80s
The A.C.T Mcc Canberra Cup was ran like that and the the MX side drop off and the Cup stayed a Dirt Track Only
This is how I under stand it ..
Back in 2000 Heaven VMX run a Dirt Track Saturday and MX on Sunday in Canberra ..
Back in 2003 the Master Games Ran MX on Saturday and DT on Sunday ....
So it has been done be for the Million dollar question is how many will come ????
and happen to have keep this Shop Poster of the event ...

Sounds like a good idea. They use to have the same classic DT and MX race weekend at Condobolin NSW in the late 90's. I think they use to call it King of the Mountain for the rider who done best over the two races. It might have been pre 75 bikes then.
-
I'd travel for a meet like that. Like the idea of the one bike thing but don't think I could be bothered changing tyres. Perhaps a section for those real keen dudes.

Well, looks like there's definitely a bit of interest then. Let's see if anything comes of it, but do feel free to vote in the poll if you haven't already, or even share some ideas here for the sort of event you'd like to see.
-
I really like the one bike, one set-up idea. Levels the playing field for those with only one bike (me), and makes it far more fun than ultra serious competitive. I'm interested, depending on date and when I finish the CR.
-
Great idea, and to expand on it what if Brisbane MCC reciprocated with the same format at a different date. As sa63 said, we ran that a couple of years ago and intend to again. We'd like to get more interaction between the clubs.
-
Cool idea
-
Sounds like a TT course at fairburn park??
-
Hmmm... I like the idea of a sort of two-way 'series' between BMCC and ACTMCC. Food for thought...
