It makes you wonder who is bidding that much ! I wonder what the reserve is? I am interested to see what it fetches as mine is much nicer :)
-
dunno about the price of the 82kx but I reckon it looks betta than a 84kx ;D
-
Yes the B1 is a great looking bike. The gold wheels and swing-arm look nice. I have both an 82 and 84 and reckon the 82 looks the goods. But I prefer to ride the 84
-
It's should get more than that again....... 8)

Looks really good, but not as good as yours Steve. Wonder what brand of silencer is on it? How is the '84 coming along anyway Steve?
-
That's crazy. I quit racing in '82 because that bike was so bad. Pretty to look out but it broke regularly and spit me on the ground every other moto.
-
Hey Rod, good to hear from you mate. The 84 is coming along slowly. It is at GMC's place at the moment having a new pipe manufactured. Also having the seat redone. I have been accumulating parts so I can make a start when I get it back. We recently had to move to Melbourne so my workshop is all over the place. I still hope to do a couple of Heaven races each year. Radiator shrouds for the 84 have not surfaced anywhere yet. I am also looking for that strut flap. I have managed to find a few rare items for the B1 which will finish it off nicely.
cheers

I remember a couple of 1980 420's breaking in half at the steering head at local races in Qld.
-
i seem to recall some 82' (maybe 83') Kx250's breaking in half at the headstem. at one meeting at broadford after at least 2 broke in half the acuv (MA) official banned all kwaka's of that model for the day.
-
The 80/81 KX's were known to break frames. Both 250's and 420's. The 82 KX250 was pretty good and the frame problems were supposed to have been fixed. I have not heard of any problems with them.

Sure it wasn't you they banned Hoony? Ray, Jeff and a few others probably slipped the official a 50 to get rid of you. "That guy on the YZ's just too quick for me" they would have been lamenting..... ;)

Ha, surely you jest rossco, those years of mine were spent in the back of St Johns drinking red cordial, a few concussions as i had ambition mixed up with ability then ;)

No, mine had a problem with exploding hubs and cylinder plating that would flake off for no good reason. Then once it was running, it had a tendency to buck me off at high speed so I went through a lot of rear fenders and handlebars. I sold it and went back to the excellent full floaters for a few years before I got another KX in '85. That bike was slightly better than the earlier KX but it liked to jump out of 2nd gear at the worst possible moments and then the Uni-Trak rocker exploded and that was it for that bike. Went onto a few good years of trouble free Hondas. Finally had good luck with Kawasaki in '89. That year the KX250 was a really good bike. Sold it for a first year perimeter framed '90 KX, which was junk. Got a '93 KX250 and loved that one. I always was able to get good support on the Kawasaki's so I kept going back to the well.

Some one put some fuel in the auction. bidding is off again
-
That's crazy. If anyone wants to give me $5,100 for my '82 RM250, I might consider parting with it. It's twice the bike than that KX.
-
I have to agree with you CamP, the RM250Z is a better ride than the B1. I just sold my RM and it was sweet. It will turn circles around the KX - but the KX will pull out of turns better and stop better than the RM.

Not if you put a 1985 F disc front on her, like I have mate. Then it eats the poor old Kwacka.
-
Yes my RM had an 85 front end on it. It would smoke the KX then. KX still looks better !! lol
-
Its back on again - it now mentions that it is a factory kawasaki race bike???
