This is not bikes but it is vintage. 1978 to be exact. The Repco Brabham I asume is from around the '63 era and Juan's car a further 10 years back. The sounds are sweet and they really hold little back. 6 minutes or so duration but nice old local footage of a bit of history ;)

the thought of that Benz at top speed at the old Hockenheim is mind boggling :o

Beautiful noise Doc. Actually the Merc is from 1954 and the Repco Brabham is from 1965. Both World Champion cars and drivers. I once met Jack Brabham and he's indeed an great old petrol head.

ah..the cars are a little before my time Firko hence I guessed the years..still amazing stuff in cars with absolutely no driver aids..real cars, real drivers!!..I wish the vid had of continued with the Hang-Ten Cup, that would also have been just as interesting.

only heard one other straight eight and it didnt sound like that sweet baby.
Was a circa 1950's chrysler. and i think pushrod and definately not desmodromic valves.
Fangio did get some good speed after he had the corner dialled in on the front straight but gentlman jack had his measure from the start.
Would have been good to see the race in the flesh

What a great memory booster.
I was at Sandown on this day, and saw this live. Fangio received a great reception, as he well deserved.
Was it almost 30 years ago?
