Does anyone know where I could source some swingarm thrust bearings for a 250B? I had an order in with CMS (NL) and they no longer have them. I checked with Alpha Sport and they don't carry them either. The Thrust Bearings are Part No: 09269-20010. Any advice much appreciated. Cheers

does All Balls make a set?

Adam, '78 RM250 (C not C2) uses the same caps but they are a different number as you could buy the cap and the thrustwasher separately in '78. The parts numbers are
09160-14020 THRUST WASHER x2
61262-45001 COVER x2
price is about $10US a side, may even be available here if you hit on those numbers ;)

hold the phone!!! my mistake sorry..seems Alpha listed the swingarms arse about and I was looking at the C2 item not the C, the C uses the same and the same number..damn..do you have a measurement I may have something here?

Thanks Doc,
The thrust bearings that were on the bike when I got it, had no ball bearings left inside the case (just an empty race) and the bike also had a different size bearing on each side of the swingarm. The parts-fiche from Alpha and CMS shows the same thrust bearing and part number for both sides so I'm guessing they're supposed to be the same.
The better looking bearing of the 2 that were on the bike, has an internal diameter of approximately 34 -35 mm which fits snugly on each of the pivot tube, the case is about 9mm deep and it has a hole in the centre approximately 13-14 mm wide to accomodate the pivot shaft.
Given its the same bearing for the A, B and C models I would have thought they'd be pretty common. Possibly a bearing mob like SKF might have something thats close. CMS did have them listed as 'in stock' but they've updated the parts-fiche to say the bearings are no longer available after my order was knocked back.
Cheers

Adam , what you are describing is a cup washer with a seal ring ( dust seal ) , and inside that is a thrust washer ..... comes in various size thickness.
look up Dr 400 1980 go to swing arm part # 8 and 9 should work out

Always trust the Oldfart to come up with the goods, good on you Stew.

Yes I ordered parts that were instock from cms and then they said they weren't and updated the website. I think they update it as and when they descover they dont have the parts when someone places an order.

If oldfarts solution doesn't work out, have you tried Crooks in the UK.
Always fax crooks, email takes them ages, they still use quill pens there you know.

Hi Adam, if and when you do get your set of dust-seals, any chance of giving me the measurements for the inside diameter of the part that goes round the swingarm pivot tube, and the thickness of the actual 'washer' face...ie how much it/they in total add to the width of the arm across the pivot? It would be nice to have this off a shiny new set. Thanks.

Thanks Oldfart,
I've tried to include a photo (if it works) I think you're right, its a cup washer containing 3 washers inside. The middle washer has sections cut out of it which I assumed was an empty ball race. As I now undertsand it, it is a thrust washer contained inside a cup washer as opposed to a thrust bearing as described in the 250B parts-fiche???

Sorry, I'm as good at taking photographs as I am at identifying bearings/washers.
Hopefully here is a clearer image of what I have, showing the middle washer with the cut-outs. There are 3 washers in total inside the cup washer

I think you will find that is the remnants of a thrust bearing.
Those cutouts are where the rollers were.
The rollers need to run on a hardened surface so they have a special hardened flat washer either side to run on.
You will probably find the thrust bearing & the thrust washers are common parts from any bearing supplies, it would only be the cup / cover that is Suzuki.
Take it to a bearing supplies & see if they can find the right size for the cup

If it's any help and you really wish to retain the roller bearings the manufacturer is/was IKO and the Oz distributors are Nachi P/L.

Hi Adam,
Just spoke to Martin Crooks at Crooks suzuki, I was chasing some parts for myself so asked him for you.
He said he had just had an email from someone in Oz so maybe you.He said they have been obsolete for some time and can't get them but he was wondering if a later year part would fit.
He did say that it is a bearing with rollers and not just an empty cage washer type thing.
He said that some later year suzukis went back to it but hasn't had time to explore if it would fit or not.
He said it cant be cross referenced but that doesn't neccesarily mean it won't fit.

Thanks RMJJ,
Yes that was me that emailed Crooks last night and thanks for asking about the bearings for me. I've since had the heads up from Doc that possibly Yamaha of Troy in the US have them still. They're listed as 'in stock' on their website.
I've ordered them (USD $28 each) and I'm waiting to see if they turn up. Postage was $10 USD. I'll post again and let everyone know if they have them.
Cheers
