All right all of you Suzuki people, while doing a bit of tidying up in my shed, I found the Suzuki CDI ingnition system pictured below.
I have no idea what it came off of or really how it came to be in my parts collection. All that I can think of is that it was in a box of bits that I got about 10 years ago when I bought my RV125.
The following detail are marked on the various bits;
CDI unit: CU "?" 168
32900 - 41420
Flywheel: KOKUSAN FP6161 4192
Stator: M41674
Coil: 3181 CD 7C
The stator has lighting coils (orange and yellow/red wires).
My RV125 has points ignition and I dont think that the RV's ever came with CDI.
SO, any suggestions as to what this system came off of?

Looks like late 70's TS/TF125
-
I'd say PE250B/C '77/'78 and PE175C '78 ;)
-
PE early model
Is it forsale ???
-
The coil and the CDI are 100% 1981 RM125. The rotor and stator aren't. I don't think they are old RM. Old RM had internal rotors.
The coil was also fitted to the 1981 PE and probably other models. I don't know if the cdi was fitted to the PE.
-
I checked my 77 PE 250 B flywheel and it is FP 6167 4192
Cant read the stator as the numbers are gone because its been slotted where the numbers were for use on a 250 T.
can you post a photo of the ID of the flywheel so i can see the magnets? are they glued in? to me its looking like they are 78/78 PE175/250.
The CDI is 100% off these models, not RM125 unless UK used the earlier PE stuff in the 81 RM125????
PE175C 1978
PE250B 1977
PE250C 1978

Leith,
The CDI was fitted to the 1981 RM125. Its the only year it was fitted to an RM and the only RM model.
Check the part number if you like. The coil like I said above was shared with the PE. The CDI obviously was aswell.

well zedder x ref which is USA based lists this for RM125X
Part # = 32900-14120
Part Description = CDI UNIT
Model Count = 1
RM125-X 1981 124 RM125 OFF ROAD
Your an expert on the RM125 so are you saying the program is wrong? it might be but this backs it up

Leith,
Battery just died on my camera, but there are 3 magnets inside the rotor and there is a "gap" bar seperating 2 of the magnets that is held in place by the phillips head screw that is just visible in the original picture. The magnets appear to be glued in place. Outside diameter of the rotor is 106mm inside diameter is 86mm (give or take a fraction)

mmm :D have done the same thing myself RMJJ, even went so far as ordering the wrong part because I thought the number looked the same ::) I use reading glasses all the time now, they reckon at about 40-45 is when most peoples' eyesight starts to go down hill :( but not mine, mine seemed to go overnight soon as I turned 46! ::)
-
Mine went downhill at 47 - I went in and within 45 minutes I was out and happy. seemed like someone switched on the lights. He also said that anybody who gets to 50 without needing reading glasses is either a VERY rare bird indeed, or a vain dope :-)
now, some CDI part numbers for your enjoyment!

just to digress briefly, thats very interesting Doc because I will be 44 next month and have actually noticed that over the last six months I do struggle to read small stuff like main jet numbers which I wouldn't have two years ago.

I know what you are all on about, I ignored the fact that the eyesight was going for a few years, then two years ago aged 49 got my eyes tested and started wearing glasses for reading and close up work. Most of the people that know me have a good laugh about it, as I used was working as a TV service tech when I got my glasses, and I had been adjusting the focus on my own TV as it always seamed a bit off. God knows how many TV's belonging to other people I adjsted the focus on incorrectly before I got the glasses.

Hey CJ,
I know this topic is way old, but if you still have that CDI do you want to sell it?
I'm looking for one.
