Title: Aust. Classic Nats-Championship Classes
Post by: 52 on September 15, 2009, 02:47:14 pm
Pre-75 Solo 4-Stroke All-Powers. If this race read Pre-75 Solo All-Powers it would be 1. a 2nd ride for riders with only 1 bike
                                                                                                                  2. the most subscribed race
                                                                                                                  3. have all the age divisions
At the Ranch I will circulate a petition to effect this change. If their are any objections please let me know.
                                                         Thanks Peter Lee.

gdr you are right in respect of classes set for this coming weekends Dirt Track Nats but i think with what Peter is proposing he has more of an eye on the future and I reckon he's on to something.

Dont sliders already have a class

the class that is used is pre84 ie anything upright.ma gcrs state sliders can ride in unlimited races alongside the other bikes,
so if it was pre75 unlimited the pre75 sliders and there are lots of them can ride in there RIGHTFULL YEAR CLASS.
those guys with pre75 mx bikes would they like it if they had to race with 1983 year mx bikes
so why not abide by the ma rules and run unlimited races including sliders
cheers

If there are alot of sliders in ths year why not run a class for them .I just do not agree with them running with mx bikes.

No offence gdr but what do you think happened in the day?

I relise that , but we also run crf450s ,and when the put the sliders in that class there was mayham ,as soon as you keep the slider on the inside of you and they are not sliding they are out of control.

GDR
i whatched a race at raymond terrice 2 weeks ago 250cc 4 stroke and the crfs had no problem with the 1 slider that was racing with them.AGAIN MA RULES 125,250 SLIDERS CAN RUN WITH MX.
the reason for this is they couldnt catch him.he won 4 from 4
look out aust longtrack champs at blaney move over mx bikes, there will be 1 quick 250 suziki slider
cheers

I did mean it when I said no offence and its good to have differing opinions, but we are talking Classic Racing and I don't think there will be many crf450's there this weekend. In the day it was one in all in and it was rare ( but did happen ) that an MX bike was a challenge to the dominant sliders. I understand keeping modern bikes seperate but I don't see a problem with the classic stuff.
Having said all that I must point out that it's easy for me to say as I'm not riding this weekend.
It seems to me that the Sliders are treated as "Leppers" these days but were the Kings when I was involved.
What number are you riding gdr, I'll catch up with you at the ranch.

just thinking after posting that post.its just a few who want sliders banned so armed with motorcycle australia general compititin rules, sliders can ride in the 125 class, there was 1 at nepean nsw champs.the 250 class and also the unlimited.
yet classic events they want to segregate them in the sup regs.
funny thing rules
cheers

All good fellas keep talking and form an opinion. The current fron runners in the Pre-75 Open class don't seem to have any objections letting sliders race in with them.More to the point, what about the bloke traveling from QLD with a CR125-how many races does he get? I can only count one. If that class has enough entries (and probably will) it will run as heats and a final (and rightly so) he could be eliminated after 1 race.He can't ride up a class, thats a long way for one race.Is it an essential part of classic racing that we maintain a fleet of motorcycles. This example is a true account of what happened to a bloke I pitted next to at Wagga 2 yrs ago.If we change the title and delete the 4-stroke bit we will get the age divisions.Anyhow 80 odd entries is great and will see you there.

our club days let
125 ride up 1 class to 250
250 ride up 1 class to unlimited (all powers)
251-500 up 1 class to unlimited(all powers)
sliders all in upright laydown 125cc 500cc ect
so everyone gets 2 rides per round
cheers

Thats right Jim, if they didn't no one would go to a club day.The GCR's read (for champs) different.Maybe we should look at why only a small percentage go to DT Nats, when the movement seems so strong. We still have more entries than Open Champs, and there will be well over a 100 bikes at the ranch, in my book thats a success, gunna hit the road now hope everyone can give this some thought-,it may not be the answer I'm just tryin to make it better.

Pete, only a small % this time, but last years ACT Nats pulled a big crowd,i guess all the planets aligned?,could have been a bit more central too!,but plenty of bannalanders made the trip, swings & roundabouts methinks?? :P

curly it`s good to hear that the sliders are the "leppers" now.as it takes the heat of those dirty, good for nothing, can`t ride a two wheel bike because it will fall over, always holding up the meeting- sidecars.the only thing a sidecar is good for is to dress the track after the water truck has been out.
that reminds me i must check under my jockey wheel guard for mud as she was pulling left.

Yeah 247
The Griffith Nats were an absolute BLAST , so many great bikes , so much great racing , so many old friends , things are a bit blurred for me as I was commentating the meeting and after 160 races it's hard to remember who did what to who and with what , I only took my bike to ride in Sunday's parade, however I felt my job on the mic was more important and I am proud that me young Bro, Jim, rode it in the parade for me.

One of the Highlights, for me, was watching Graham Roberts ride the wheels off the Velo Venom , going into Turn 3 at warp 5 and then full noise  legtrailing out like a Thirties Speedway rider.

There seems to be some confusion about slider eligibility, however , as I stated in my earlier post, they are eligible for their machines age related classes and that is the way it should be.

So your still in top gear hey !!  ;D  ;D  :P  :P
good for you  8)
It's an amazing high, when you have a great race day.
Put the politcis and the need for the GCR to sharpen their tools all on hold.
Long live the sliders  8)
