Title: what year is my rm125 ?

I have recently bought a rm125 as a project but cant figure out what year it is, to me the engine looks like an 84 but the frame looks like an 81-83 because the shock cannister is mounted on the left hand side below the fuel tank.

the frame number is rm125-208688
engine number rm125-216162

can anyone make sense of these numbers

I 'think' it's an '81, both numbers seem to corrospond to this model. From the '83 D model I 'think' (again) the eng and frame numbers had the prefix RF11,RF12,RF13 and so on..

it has the reed valve underneath the barrel instead of being bolted to the outside of the barrel if that helps, and the clutch linkage is on the left hand side.

looking at them numbersthe frme would be an 81 model which is a rm125x but im not sure about the engine

wouldn't help me sorry but others who have these models would recognize any discrepancies or differing model parts..post some pics ;)

Its sounds like a 1981 x to me.

well i would have taken photos but the bike is in pieces now, im pretty sure its an 81 but not 100% on the engine being an 81

if you post up pics of the barrel it should becom clear on the engine which model it is

you have a rm125x frame with a z motor by the looks of it

1981 engine has case reed and two bolt holes for front engine mount and bolt on head water outlet
1982 engine has full reed and one bolt hole front engine mount and cast in head water outlet
1983 is same as 1982 externaly but has F106 engine number not RM125
1984 engine is similar to 1981 but not RM125 engine number. Has case reed but cast head water outlet
and one bolt hole front engine mount

you have got and 81 or 82 motor, check it against the description above.
