Title: It's a funny old world (caution contains images of modern dirtbikes)
Post by: TooFastTim on September 09, 2009, 11:43:57 am
When Husaberg released their new bikes two years ago. I was gobsmacked. First 'cause they were (IMO) soooo pretty but also because they were so innovative. Too innovative, even a bridge too far. My conservative engineer said "one step at a time".

My, how the wheel has turned. Look at this:

WOW! Suddenly the Husaberg looks like it has just the right amount of innovation. Kudos to Yammie for having the balls to follow this through. This is real guys. No show mockup here. This is nexts years YZF450.

We live in interesting times.

All I do on a modern bike these days is clean the airfilter, check the brakepads, grease the chain (and sometimes vice versa. Depends how many beers I've had) and clean it. It's 15 years since I last split a modern bike. So I reckon them days are long gone.

Suppose we one of the lucky ones, in having the best of both worlds in our shed-modern and vintage  8)
Be interesting to see these bikes (above) next year on the start line as boy child is off to seniors.
cheers

Not while his mother is still breathing-time he bought his own toys anyway. ;D He always mentions the 250-wouldn't think he's quit ready for the 450 yet.

cheers Alison

next to zero i reckon, they don't have a piston any longer, just a ring holder that attaches to the conrod !

:D :D :D

I've got a mate who makes a really good living out of people who just clean their filters, oil their chain and wash their modern bikes. Ok if it's an XR or something like that. :-\

All the same.

I'd like to park that thing next to my Monties..... :P
(I reckon they'll sell a zillion of them.)

People said that when water cooling was introduced.
People said that when power vavles were introduced.
People said that when disc brakes were introduced.
People said that when linkage rear suspension was introduced.
People said that when CDI ignitions were introduced.

They said the same of EFI on cars, too.

In the end, we all work out the new technology.
