Hi,
I'm new to VMX and have a query about if the foot pegs on my bike require some sort of 'Spring' return fitted. I have got some mixed messages so far about this issue. Some say yes it a must a spring fitted and some say no a spring is not required so long as your foot peg returns of it own free will...that's ok.
I plan to have my first race meeting this weekend so I'd be very dissappointed to find out that I'm restricted to the pits because my foot pegs wont pass scrutineering.
Cheers

Modern MX stipulates that you must have a return spring.
VMX stipulates that the pegs must return by themselves.
So you don't need springs, although certain clubs/scrutineers might want them.
Same story for handlebar cross brace pads and folding tips on gear-levers.
Despite the talk about rules on these forums, its VERY rare for people to be told to go home over minor stuff like this - particularly at Club level.
At very worst, some rubber bands made from inner tubes, a couple of cable ties and a few minutes will pacify even the most 'difficult' scrutineer.

Your good Nathan, 8) have you ever thought about getting into eligibility etc in a more serious way. ?

Thanks Nathan....
I'll make sure that I have an old tube and some zip ties.

hes right no rule says it has to have springs.
other option is garden hose or clear pipe cut a slit on it and pop it over the joint, zip ties on either end, it goes up slowly and always comes back. No mods needed and reversable
