Title: Diversion of funds......temporary
Post by: pirie593 on September 01, 2009, 01:08:39 pm
The auditor general has indicated that if I wish to continue membership of OZVMX and procure bikes of interest, I first have to commit to the purchase of something that carries two.

So, with orders coming directly from the top, I need urgent help.  Does any-one know of a very good BMW GS650F for sale, priced up to $10K.  I have done the obligatory internet searches and the choices are very limited.

Sounds like a reasonable request.  ;)

Have you talked to the guys at Adelaide Motorcycles?
They're a good mob.
Phone 83797727.

Tony,

Thanx.

BTW, we will pick up anywhere and ride back to South Oz.

Purchased the demo 650GS from Adelaide BMW.  Spent more than had intended, but was pressured by the auditor general to buy now, save later...awaiting delivery.  Now she plans on accompanying me to Speed Week at Gairdner in Feb next year.

Now that's an experience in itself. How are you going to keep her from scratching your eyes out due to extreme boredom? ??? I went to Gairdner back in '06 to help a mate who was racing his R1 streamliner and TZ350 and found it to be the most boring as batshit form of motorsport immaginable, from a non racers eye anyway. I guess it'd be great going 200 mph on a Hayabusa but watching them, well, as Magoo often says,...ZZZZZZZZZZ. The participants are a pretty feral lot too. There's a strange dude they call "Animal" who walks around the whole week in his Y fronts or less and the 'salties' all reckon he's a hoot. Me? I reckon he's a tosser, as are half of the punters out there. ;D

Ah, but its all in the journey....I suspect 1 day, 2 max at the actual event will do us; we will probably spend 3 - 4 days getting there via NSW, Arkaroola etc etc. Off the beaten track with 2 other mates in tow (it was actually their idea).

Any excuse to get onto a bike  :D

Best I call them for my kickback then.  :D
Seriously, good to hear you got one.
As for Lake Gairdner, I'd actually had thoughts of going up myself next year.
I always take the month of February off and thought the postie might need a run by then.  ;)

Tony,

Yep, took your advice and live just around the corner.  Might see you and Firko at Gairdner in 2010  ;D

Sounds like I'll fit right in..................  :-\

I'd be interested to see some of the machinery though.
