If you know no spoilers please.
Top Gear fans will get a chance to see 'The Stig' ( some say it was a publicity stunt gone wrong............... ;D ) unmasked up until recently a best kept secret up there with the 12 herb and spices, the coke-a-cola formula and where they keep the dead aliens ;D
I think you will be surprise just how far up the greasy pole they got with him :-X
-
I fear you are leading yourself into their web of deception. The real White Stig will be much closer to you in the next few months.
-
Top Gear Aussie- now that's a show I love :-*
I'm sorry to say that British version sux-well the commentator anyway :-\ and I usually like most commentators ;) ;D
cheers
-
Not going to spoil it Lozza, but it was unearthed a few months back in the UK. You will be surprised!
VMX247 - Now that they have rid themselves of the noose that was Charlie (who had the personality and charisma of a letter box), TGA is a much better show - it still has a long way to go the better or even equal the original!
-
Sorry but THe aussie version is a joke, well half watched 3 and nearly barfed everytime. Why you would have a trumpet playing has been on your show and expect it to rate is beyond,
what the real top gear has in spades is charissma, personality and entertainment. To get the balance on the screen you need to find the right presenters and they need to balance out and work off each other, then again with access to real cars the Aussie rehash with a few ford and holden reviews was always destind for the scrap heap challange. (although i prefer junk yard wars)
i think they are on there second stig anyway after the other one was outed as the euro race driver dude
-
I was only happy with the episode with the xy gt ho i would love one if i could afford one i think i will aim to save enough to buy an xa xb xc coupe Uk series is pretty entertaining
-
I cant say I have watched it that much- ::) well between posts on OZVMX anyway ;) ;D
The boys get into it (both versions, don't get much TV in the country) and I liked the backdrops with the Aussie scenery :-\
I'm sure we will flick the channel and have a look see...thanks Lozza
cheers

frosty.............Save your money, invest and buy more bikes.
-
Ah, but was it....
-
It is not Michael Shumacher, they just dressed him that way to drive the massively expensive Ferrari that they had (I downloaded this episode in June ::))
-
Well it was 'him' driving that FXX Ferrari and was still in the clear by a second or so in the 'F1 Star in the reasonably priced car' and that falls into line.
Yeah the Stig is coming to Bathurst or so I hear.Freaky James Morrison is a confirmed petrol head and has a large stable of expensive and collectable cars, he's crashed a few in Targa Tasmainia. TGA is only it's second season while the UK version is in it's 10th and the UK's show would have a budget 100times larger. So that's why the banter is a better, plus it's good to see Clarkson make a knob of himself.
-
Indeed. Yes Lozza, that was crap, the man you're after will be driving at Phillip Island and Bathurst with the Kelly brothers in the Jack Daniel's Commodore and his name is Ben Collins, look it up on Google if you don't believe me. ;)
-
I get ya, but where not making excuses because it has a small budget, less access to cars,or for that matter less experiance even though they are just regurjitating a proven formulae or that you can give some fat blower personality just because he collect cars ?
If it has to exsist at all, then it has to stand on its own. this is typical of usually poor amaerican rip off of other prime quality english writing and productions.
-
Tonight's Top Gear has brought us the BLACK SHADOW VINCENT :-*
A Jag and
a Steam Train Comp ;D
it's MS and the crowd roared ;D
-
Aussie Top Gear is OK - and getting better as they spend less time trying to be Pommy Top Gear.
Pretty sure the Aussie Stig is Rick Bates.
The Pommy Stig is supposed to have been several different people. Damon Hill is one name that comes up a lot.
-
Unfortunately Ben Collins might be a good a driver but he's no Nigel Mansel, Damon Hill or Lewis Hamilton, just as much 'evidence' to say it's Tim Schrick. It's Troy Bayliss who will drive at PI and Bathurst.
-
I was given some free tickets to go and see Top Gear UK being filmed last year. It's a shame they don't produce an un edited version. It was more like Chubby Brown meets the Marx brothers than anything you see on TV. Seven hours of the crudest jokes and p**s taking I have ever seen. You wouldn't take your mum but it was still brilliant to watch all the same. Oh, and I did see who the Stig is. He drives a very nice black AMG Mercedes and his name is ... oh **** I forgot !
-
Suit yourself, Lozza. Troy Bayliss will be driving with Dean Fiore, not the Kelly brothers.
-

I always thought the British Stig was Jason Plato but my English mate swears it's Nigel Mansell. I'd rather not know actually, it takes away the whole idea of having a Stig if you know who he is.
As far as the Aussie Top Gear goes...I like James Morrison as a musician, he seems a nice bloke and I'm sure he's got a cool collection of exotic cars, but he's no Jeremy Clarkson. Clarksons comic timing and amazing ability to take the piss without offending are a hard act to top, that's why the show rates so well. Take Jeremy out of the equation and you've got 'just another car show' like Tiff Needhams 5th Gear.

In order for SBS to maintain the rights to broadcast the UK version of Top Gear in Australia, it had to agree to make a local version. The contract stipulates the formula and general content; in other words, it had to be a copy of the the UK show...hands are tied.
:-X

I always thought the British Stig was Jason Plato
I think Plato's contractually obliged to "Fifth Gear".
-

Not sure about that... in the last 12 months he has managed to offend truck drivers, the royal family, the Germans and Poland. The best part is he doesn't seem to give a toss.
Love him or hate him, Clarkson makes the show.

frosty not a gtho biggest heap of junk of a car ever built buy a monaro or better yet one of these ;D

Want a bit of advice Frosty ? Buy the cheapest legal car you can find.
Why ?
1. No one in their right mind will steal it. :)
2. You will always have right of way. Especially with Lambos, Mercs n such :o
3. If you do get it stolen or smashed, so what ,just get another. :)
4. $1200 is about right. ;)
5. Then you can get all the bikes that you like. :P

I always liked the American "fat Stig" he da man!

Season 15 episode 1 is available for d/l today on EZTV.it for those that cant stand the crap and lies that channel 9 dish out ;D
-
Jeremy Clarkson will be featured on "Who Do You Think You Are" on channel 9, 10 pm Tuesday. If you haven't seen this great series it's well worth a look. The idea is that celebrities trace their family tree back and uncover skeletons in the closet and some interesting family connections. It's been shown on SBS and BBC Knowledge for years and Channel 9 recently started showing the US series which typically doesn't hold a candle to the British and Aussie versions. Once you get into it, the show can be really addictive. Celebrities that are otherwise forgettable and/or annoying can often turn out to have fascinating family history, for instance, Jerry Springers story was especially interesting. Clarkos family story should be worth a look.
-
Thanks firko,i haven't watched the series but have been keen to record it (arvo shift)and keep forgetting.
Cheers...mario

Have you been watching american chopper - Senior vs Junior?
Seems better again this season as it looks like discovery channel have jumped on board again.
Cheers...mario
-
The Stigs unmasking was done on the nightly news months ago.
As for Junior v Senior.....that shit was OK back in 05 but they haven't built an original bike since. They seem stuck in the same format, using the same components....the only difference being the colour scheme and doo-dads. The rest is all soapy crap with a bullshit 'feud'. The ratings were on the slide so they were stuck for ways to pep it up......"I know" said the producers, "lets create a family feud between both Pauls, the punters will lap it up". Well, this punter hasn't. Life's too short to watch that shit. I reckon that the Biker Buildoff bikes are shitloads more innovative and different....each episode has different builders and therefore different philosophies on the craft without the bullshit feud. Same with Chip Foose's Overhaulin' as opposed to those tired old American Hot Rod Boys Coddington episodes. Foose builds very cool cars without the personality angst but at Boyds shop it's Angry Duane versus everyone. Does the prick ever do any work on the actual cars?
As for Jesse James......what a f*ckwit.

Yeah Paul Jr waxing about his unparalleled creative genius is a little hard to take ..... to mention all those clowns in the same sentence as Chip Foose whose drawings alone are amazing, Arlen Ness dynasty or any of the automotive artists out there just seems so wrong. F65K Paul Jr can hardly write his name in Crayon, just same old rigid frame with funny guards and tank shitter.
Heres a lesson in building bikes from Arlen

Sorry, but Russel Mitchel's bike are as minimalist and fugly as he is (his bikes seem to only appeal to him), that's why his bikes NEVER win.
-
I've got a bit of a soft spot for Russell Mitchells stuff. Sure it's mimimalist but he's got that combo between traditional bobber and high tech pretty right imho. On the other end of the scale I like Roland Sands quasi road racer/bobber/chopper/street tracker bikes. Nobody does it like Roland. Some of his bikes miss the plot but when he gets it right like the KRV5 tracker he's the king.

The KRV5 Tracker by Roland Sands took 9th place in the 2006 World Championship Of Custom Bike Building held at Sturgis this year. As we noted previously, this bike is powered by a Kenny Roberts V5 MotoGP engine. The front end is a modified GSXR1000 unit with Performance Machine wheels all around and the PM brakes, emulating the original board trackers, are at the rear only!
Nice looking and very interesting, but after building the very functional No Regrets and RSD Grunt, don't you think a 200hp V5 MotoGP engine would really go well in a more functional custom?

Another bonza show tonight, with TopGears "50 years of James Bonds cars and Robbie Madison on bikes.
