East Malvern mcc is running a grass track mx at Mirboo nth on the 13 September. This year we are inviting pre 85 bikes to come and have a play on the grass you will get practice and four racers. This year all profit is going to the local CFA/s so more riders more money to the firerys. If riders can pre enter it will help alot entry/s can be found on the VCM web site. Camping saturday night and canteen sunday. DREW'

Sound great. hope to be there with my RM250 and trying to convince a mate to ride my RM465 and another mate to bring his YZ490 out of mothballs. The thought of natural terrain really appeals
-
how hard would you need to try to convince someone to ride a rm465 or yz490 :)
-
Wait till you see the first corner... :o Yeehah!
Cheers,
K

It's a good track; always has been. Make sure your brakes are working well!
The first corner is great in the morning when it's still a bit dewy... ;D
Drew - Any track changes planned for this year?
-
I've got a 40th birthday party to attend the night before, so I won't be in any shape to race! Too bad really, as this is sounding like a great event. Have fun everyone!

See if you can fit in a left sweeper somewhere Drew.. Mirboo has a lot of rights (being clockwise & all). Might be a tough job making that work though

yep it was a ripper, it had a long down hill back straight that I would almost get the old yz400 flat stick. raced a inter centre combine there once and held out Mike Landman for 4.5 laps out of 5 he was racing a semi works yz400 at the time and I just wide on the second last corner and he got me. another near miss

What a day! First race for 35 years. Also first time I've ridden the bike and first time I've used right side shifting. Greasy track, off camber corners and bike not running below half throttle due to incorrect jetting (started first time on thursday). Peter Schoene rolled up and sorted carby (Thanks Pete!) Bike then running well. Only problem then was lack of rider ability. None the less I pressed on and despite being seperated from the bike a couple of times my confidence increased as the track dried.I think I was last in every race but I don't care because I was out there having a go. Thanks to EMMCC for their efforts and all the people who said g'day and offered help on the day and made me feel welcome. Cheers Jerry Bultaco #51

Also great to see Hoony who made the effort to come down with the rug rats. Have not seen Al for about 13 odd years. Good to see you mate. Jerry

Great to catch up with you Jerry even though i got there late.
Track looked great although it must have been greasy first up. cannot go past the Gippsland tracks allways a fav of mine in years past.
saw some interesting bikes (some immaculate greeves and a very nice Jawa/Monark) but did not get time to have a good look around.
can someone tell me if that was Kell Ambertson i saw in the pits? i remember him from a Four stroke only race at wonthaggi in about 1984 when he had a Can Am Sonic, they were/still are trick units.
-
That indeed was Kel (God knows how old he is) I remember him from the mid seventies and he was old then. He gave me a ride of his CCM at the old Coldstream track. It had so much torque that I dont remember changing gear. I do remember my forearms pumping up after 1 lap. Had a good chat to him (not sure if he remembered me) and he explained that he had gone back to Sweden for a while and competed there before coming back to OZ. Says he has built a few Monark frames in his spare time. The guys a legend

Hi Jerry - I think you were parked next to us.. that Bultaco of yours is mint. You definitely picked a challenging track & conditions to make your comeback on!
I had my first ride back in 12 months.. I really should have gone for a practice prior to racing - I did 6 races and I'm feeling it now! I was a bit lost in the first race - really tricky conditions. Tim37 had it dialled on that little orange Italian thing though.. ;D I improved a bit as the day went on. The bike was feeling it too - cracked the expansion chamber in the first race. Ended up getting hosed up the hills due to no bottom end power for the remaining races... ??? Oh well, me & bike should be ready to roll for the next one.
Big thanks to EMMCC & all the volunteers for putting this meeting on.. it's always a great round to ride at.

Yes I am Tim, I'm the slow one ;D
The big 490 will definitely be the weapon of choice for Boagy's, you rarely see Maico 490s in Vic so it would be good to see it out there. If its muddy you could ride the Villa again!
