seeing as I've collected more than a few ol' TS250's I've been toying along the line of a non era specific '71 rh250 look a like. You know, '71ish black motor, mudcatchers, plain yellow tank with Suzuki S on the sides rada rada rada..but in all the photo's I've ever seen of restored or replica RH71's not 1 shows the original inch wide black centre stripe that runs down the middle of the tank ??? actually it's black with white on either edge to be factual but it seems this racing stripe has been lost in history as I can't recall seeing an RH71 since that has it :-\
-
oops ;D RH70 sorry not '71!..though it may still have been the then too. but this all relates to the 1970 beast sorry ;)

these are the stripes I talk of that are nowhere to be seen anymore..my pre'70 project will most certainly have them ;)
-
The stripes are not black but rather are green with white strips.
-
EML comparing the front plate colour to the tank stripe on the bike beside in the same photo, they definately look black to me :-\ quite possible they may have been dark green but all the images I've seen including the 2 posted above that I stole directly from the 1970 movie 'Sometimes Racer' would have you believe black. Would you have a better picture maybe? :) that's Joel and Sylvains' bikes by the way..not 'production' models

sorry peoples, I know it seems a dumb topic but I want to try and build something to look 'loosly' like the '69 pictured below out of some leftovers from the pending RL/TS/TM250 projects I need to get out of the way first :P fact is I reckon I enjoy putting these bitsa things together as much if not more than riding them ::)

-

-
no :P I will now though ;D
-

http://www.mxworksbike.com/SuzukiDVD.htm
-
I already have it Leith , but there is no pics of the sticker DOC is looking for
-
Hey Doc, do you want a 1969 TS250 bottom end?, can you give me a ring, also Dodgees been trying to get hold of you! cheers John.
-
Is the Terry Good you speak of the Brit sidecar cross racer from the late 70's and 80's ??
-
hey Doc, correct me if Im wrong but me thinks that RH69 was a Cheney frame.......
211

Nope, this one's a squillionaire builder/developer from the USA who owns a shitoad of works bikes.

Almost Dave....Olle Pettersen took the Cheney frame to Japan and they copied it almost exactly, making it even lighter.

Basil does the pope shit in the woods? is a bear catholic!! do I wanna '69 bottom end??..you bet!! ;D means I can have a crank machined for the TM rotor and keep the original just incase it all goes pear shaped and goes bang :o
I'll give Dodge a call tonight..been really sick, hard to reach and totally out of action for a few weeks which is killing me! :'( at least this week I've been able to sit up and sleep and eat like a real person so it's getting back to good slowly :) jealous of that bloody RM125M/S FMF head you swooped on too!! ;) was too slow and too poor to be a serious contender :D
Mark/Dave, thanks, I have no idea of exact era's and frame designers/manufacturers but I know there was another frame builder involved with Olle about this era..can't recall the name but in the US..seems like a nothing question (the stripe I mean) but it's something I'll run to be a bit different albeit in this instance more anally correct ::) I'd like to build a '69 rep for simple reason it looks more do-able and the steel guards appeal to me more now than do the plastics of the 70'd and later ;)

No your thinking of Big Tel , hard as a coffin nail and handsome as a pit bull ;D Jess Rixon used to swing for Terry and then Barry williams, they were formidible combinations :)

Check your pms DOC.
-
Machine the rotor NOT the crank. The crank is hardened on the skin but a bit soft underneath that.Soft materials don't machine well.
-
Wrong model RH but nice anyway.

Loz, that's the main reason I took a punt on that unknown ignition. The TM250 rotor doesn't appear to have enough machinable stock to accept the larger taper :-\ will wait and see, the other ignition is less than a week away ;)
Firko that is nice..Siege models are always nice 8) the bikes not bad either :P

Nice to know someone else remembers "the other" Terry Good tmbill.
He had finished racing before I went over but i remember reading about him in m/cyle weekly etc... A very good rider/team from all accounts.
Like you say- hard as nails, but would have to be to race the likes of Grogg and co.

Were you planning on machining the TS shaft or getting a friendly machinist to do 1 for you, if a crank rebuild was planned then get a custom made shaft done & pressed in at the same time as it'll work out cheaper
