Title: YZ125G suspension
Post by: fatrat on August 16, 2009, 09:22:16 pm
Hi all,

My newly aquired bike feels like it has no suspension front or rear. The front bottoms out under braking and the back when I just sit on it. Now I weigh a lot more than when I used to ride these things but I knoe its not right. Can anyone tell me who to send the rear shock/spring too to get it it fixed? Im in Mackay Qld.

The front forks I assume will need seals and fresh oil. Should I look for heavier springs? Im 110kg.

Cheers

Mark

Yes. They were known to be sub-standard for all by fly-weight riders when new.

I'd look at 38mm forks from an Evo eligible YZ250/465/400 or IT, and a rear spring off a similar bike.

125's were designed to race with a 65 kg pilot.
You should install stiffer springs front and back.
New seals, oil, spring and PD valves should right the front of your ship.
The rear will need similar treatment except the PD valves, but most of the time you are better off buying new shocks. A new pair of springs alown can set you back $200.00. and a service fee from a shock rebuilder will be about $100.00 per shock.
