Steven has gone to the Cairns Markets so I can tap away for a wee while.. ;D
We arrived to a dry looking land as our son is in the deep south of WA attending his muddy modern mx event.
The arvo was spent chatting and prep-ing sidecars which had made the treak from the deep south of Qld to race at this Natural paddock track. :-*
The late arvo was spent dribbling(if girls can do that) over the bikes on display at the show and shine at Kamp Kanga carpark. 8)
A few forum members took home trophys for bikes Ross's red Metisse, Darcy for a Bultaco ? Sorry if I have forgot anyone else. The peolpes choice award was won by a nicely :P restored RM400.
Douglas 1925 won the oldest.
There was a bike to proove that they do still come out of boxes a YZ yammie 75 ish model -very new looking and never rided. :o
After tea and a few more beverages and old movies, I hit the sack with a head cold. And left the noisy nieghbours etc to it.
Sunday up at 5.30am got some yummie bacon and eggs, while looking at the sick and poorley from the night before...glad I wasnt them riding.. :o
Sign on and riders breif-then race time ---the pre 75 and pee wees had the run for the morning, then the sidecars moderns and evo pre 78 had the arvo run.
The pre 75 could of run with the pre78 if they wished to stay..more chatting, this time with a lovely emerald Greeves owner who was Father Cavill whom is very proud of his sons and there racing abilities. And is like the lovely Don Newell and knows a barrel of vmx stuff 8)
Steven and his new virgin swinger place 3rd,5th and 4th for the day on the borrowed sidecar from the Brisbane Sidecar Hire Dept 8) ;D
Lots of modern bikes and plenty of evo ---Hopeing that the older bikes contiun to support this great laid back country event.
Thanks to all for a wonderful and memorable time.
Good to catch up with fourm members Bingil6,Dkupf,Husky501,Kane,Cyclone and Derail. 8)
ps sorring about the spelling ;D

Love it Darcy. How was it on the track?
-
can you give us a bit of info on the DAKA please Darcy?
is it a 250? year? etc
nice bike 8)
-
Hey, The hodaka is a ED/250 or better known as the Thunderdog ::). They were brought out as a enduro bike in 1977 the only year they were made. This one in number 1722 of 1800 made world wide and around 50 were sent to Australia, As for on the track it's a lot different then my 75 Maico 250. but I still hold my mortgage on 5th place up in Proserpine. Darcy
-
Darcy, as you know I'd hate to admit it to your face, and I'll deny it if you repeat this, but you've done a fantastic job on a truly unique bike. It must have been very tempting to just do a half-job, and put it on the track, but the Thunderdog looks GREAT!!
Now, all you have got to do is learn to ride it!
Mike
ps, don't go riding under any low branches with those throttle cables!

Yeah I'm not happy :'( - especially being so close. Never mind I have already teed the missus up for next year and although it will be a bit of a trip I'm sure the missus will be happy to visit her parents. I'll pretend that's what the trip is all about and all will be good ;) ;D
I reckon the crowd might be bigger next year too if the nationals wasn't the week before - who knows.
You look like you were going hard (as usual) Lou, how did you end up going ?
I'd love a copy of the DVD too mate if it is at all possible. More than happy to pay my way ;)
I've already got the weekend booked out for November for the club break-up and Jeff now has the Bully up here and is working on her to get her ready. 8)
Some of those bikes look absolutely mint. Congratulations to all.
-
Apparently the young bloke who took this to the show and shine for his dad and won a trophy, said it was brand new(out of the box) and never ridden. 8)
cheers

Good to see you back on line Wombat,
We took the Qantas flight from Cairns to Ayers Rock(Uluru) to Perth as it was the shortest flight time home to West Oz (6hours).
We knew we where getting close to the good part of the country (home) ;) cause the amount of red desert sand waves curling off the edges of the tarmac told us so ;D
Back into wellington boots now ;D rain rain rain :o
cheers

...We took the Qantas flight from Cairns to Ayers Rock(Uluru) to Perth ...
Ah I see; for some reason I thought your whole trip was a self-drive jobbie - hence my surprise to read you'd called in to Ayers Rock en route to Perth. :o
To foreigners looking at a map of OZ it would appear 'on the way' in a line from Proserpine to Perth - but the locals know better... ;)
-
Hey Ali, yes there are some nice people about- it takes one to know one.
That shot of the mount(hill) with cloud cover is nice. I remember looking over at it and wondering if it was an omen.
Also, Ayers Rock is the perfect stop over when going from Proserpine to Perth- if you ride an adventure bike and can get away for a week or so!.
-
hi vmx247, bob hannah signature! yeh i wondered when you would notice what i signed!
