Title: Montesa 18M frame OK for pre-70?
Post by: Nathan S on August 14, 2009, 09:13:35 pm
Is an early 1970s 18M frame like a pre-70 orange tank 250GP frame?

I know that Nitram has an 18M frame with the early type 250 motor in it, which I assume bolts straight in.

Damn, I think I've answered my own question.

The 18M:

The GP250:

Note the difference around the swing arm pivot.  :-\

Anyone want to buy an 18M frame, swing arm, triple clamps, rusty forks and tank?  :(

Nathan,

I was going to say much the same. Very diff frames. 18M is a lot like 34M KingScorpion but that didn't come out till 1970 I believe. 18M engine is akin to pre-70s 4sp cappra 250, but frame isn't.

PM not received.

 ???

That's not my 18M in the pic - just one I found in another thread, but yeah, my ugly-but-sound frame is definitely up for grabs if anyone wants it.
