Title: Carby Restoration
Post by: kevwrx on August 06, 2009, 09:12:19 pm
Hi Guys
I need to find someone who can restore the carb on my RM250 T 1980.
I only have a simple request - it needs to be restored to perfection !
Can anyone point me in the direction of a business that can do this for me ??
I'm located in Melbourne
Kind regards
Kev

Hi Kev I dont know about the carby innards but Greg Wood at Hydro Blast in Sandringham 95970387 can certainly clean up the outside to showroom condition. I've used him a couple of times and found him a pleasure to deal with. Excellent quality, value and turn around. The blokes a perfectionist. Might be what your looking for. Cheers Jerry

Kev,
If the bike is being ridden or its a period resto, then go for a new carby. You'd be surprised at just how cheap they are. Carefull with hydro blast, bead blast etc. The coating on the outside is critical as you will find post blasting that they corode pretty fast. Been there done that.

i bought a new one from Vintage Suzuki, it doesn't fit !
the carb itself is too long, and the fuel line intake is bigger...

The Mikuni's I have bought from T.D.Hatricks were oversized, you have to trim the air filter flange back to match your original carb, easy to do with a strip of masking tape for a guide and a steady hand with the hacksaw and some draw filling.
