My entry will go out today for the Bool. 8)
looking forward to that fast flowing track that lets you stretch out the gearbox (wish they still ran the horsepower hill).
so who"s up for it?
KB171, 414, Hilly, Cormack, Mr B Kerr (esq) , BilletYZ, Caps, BigK, Mx Maniac, Mr Maico and co, Gator (for a look mate) any takers.
-
See you there Hoony, about time you dusted the cob webs of that beast of yours.
Cheers Mark.
-
I`m in Hoony,
it`s been 2 months since my last race and i`m hanging for a ride. I haven`t raced at Barrabool since 88 and am looking forward to it. About time you fired up too. Peter.
-
I'm in Hoony ,lookin forward to a play, be nice if they let us on the grassy bits ;)
-
Aw gee,do I have to?......alright,just so long as Hank stocks the bar with plenty of Jimmy cans I'll go.
-
I'd come but I'll still be fulfulling sponsor and promotional duties after cleansweeping the Nationals. Why did you blokes put Barabool put on a week after the Nats, what were you thinking?
-
Spare CR250RG here if you want to partake of MX Nirvana MagooSter (its been a garage queen for a few years so i need to look it over). let me know if you want it and i will tow it to to "The Bool"
-
I'm there unless I crash in the back yard the day before (again)! I'm bring the 360 'Varna, maybe the 430. Poof boy is coming too, TT500, (to the races that is). Jaco will be bringing the 390 Kato, Smithy's bringing his YZ400 and I'm trying to get Wazza a ride for the day.
Cheers,
K
-
I'll be there Hoony.Hopefully I will get to ride the Can Am.
By the way anybody going to Broadford next week I think its an open day with all tracks working - dont quote me on this I heard it on the grape vine.
Viper 42
-
Mr.Hoon nice of you to show the due respect. Not many people realize my true identity and title.
I think I'll be there , I might be a bit late at least .I just got back from picking up my new ride and I want to read up on the pre 90 racing topic before I do anything else.
I'm a slow reader ta boot !!! SHEEEESS
-
I'm going to Barrabool and i'm goin to Wonthaggi tomorrow (DMCC) Club day and if we rained off next Saturday i will be at Broadford too . Fark i need to do some work on my bikes .

G'day Steve,
i was going to Broadford, but now i need to give it a miss to take my daughter to a Birthday party ( i'll keep away from the fairy bread this time)
wonder what the track will be like to suit old bikes? what are you taking the Maico, Can Am or something else?
see you at The Bool
-
I'll be there. :)
I've entered into Pre-85 Big Bore :P
I've entered in Evo :o
I'm only taking one bike :o :o
One bike :o :o :o
I'm going to grinning from ear to ear whilst I'm doing it. ;D ;D ;D
And thinking....
Thank you Lord that I live here in Victoria :-X
Good night
-
I have entered Pre 90 on my 85' CR500 as well as the Modern Class for an Extra Ride (knowing that i will get well and truly hosed by them young bokes with 4 stokes, but i don't care my serious days i left behind me in the early 90's )
as long as we live in Vic it's a non issue Ross, as someone else on the pre 90 thread said "with 3 strong seperate clubs running down here the mix must be right" as the riders will either support a good format or stay away. it's a non issue really. Catch you soon Monty Man :D
-
Sorry Hoony,
Mr Maico will be sampling some Vietnamese Hospitality in Vung Tau starting this Friday 7th of August
Hope you all have a great time at the Bool. Tell Nimmo I've gone Maico hunting in Asia ;D ;D
Good Luck to all the Vics going to the Titles in Conondale. Our Maico's will be up & about next year at Broadford, the home of VMX.

Ahh. The Smiling Assasin (The Ghost who walks,,,)! Good on you Arno. Hose 'em down mate. Good luck to all the Vics.
Good on you Mr & Mrs Maico. Vung Tau eh? I don't know about Maico's but you could bring home a bit of old ordinance that could make for some extra 'fun' at the next Viper meet. 8)

What fuggin class's yu gunna ride on your pre 85 evo bike Ross? I hope you not going to try and bend any rules.FUG!!

The only rule I try to follow on any given day is "Underwear, then pants". If I get this right then the rest of the day usually falls into place. I'll catch you at The 'Bool, whoever you are MotoManiac..... ;)
-
they seek him here, they seek him there, that elusive anonymous Motomaniac (who is he Brent Kerr ?) is every forking where !
-
Hey Hoonster,
I am planning to go the bool, and if they let me, doing some commentating, not sure if you are aware but we had a few international riders at Wonthaggi, names like roger decoster, brad lackey and you reckon Hieki Mikola can still go!
see you there
Macca :)

Fuggin' awesome Macca.I reckon it would the greatest thing if you could do commentary at every round. The commentary really ads something to the day ( and helps riders keep track of the race numbers) and you do a great job.
Just a suggestion but maybe you could play some DaddyCool at the lunch break. ;D
-
Now I've finally found a huge advantage in racing in N.S.W. over you Viccos. You may have better tracks, less travelling, awesome race programs and big fields, but we don't have to put up with Macca and his "when I was a young bloke I used to" stories. Once a year is enough for me. (just kidding Ian mate)

i think you should bring the 450 down to the bool to lube the main seals Macca !

I've contacted Macca about being a body gaurd for victorian riders competing interstate and we're not going to Canowindra without him.
-
im in for sure you still looking for a pilot for the 250rg mr hoon
-
I'll be there for my first real ride since Wonthaggi last year. So will my son & his mate in the Juniors and I'm bringing a Viper Virgin.
Settle down you lot, he's a 47 yo male & ugly to boot. Never raced Viper but keen as mustard, come to think of it he hasn't raced much at all but he gets around OK. He'll be on my sponsor bike, the mighty YZ400F, that at it's last appearance anywhere was the Bool and it transported one Steve Sweeney to his first ever race win. So lets hope my mate can stand up to the scrutiny, and the bike for that matter.
I promise, well sort of, not to get in anyone's road as I know you blokes are there for points, i'm for the fun the night before. (No more than a dozen, gods honour)
Looking forward to a ride.
No Mr & Mrs Maico, what's the world coming to?

Hi Neale,
Cant make it to Barrabool sorry, 30-33o everyday, awesome food, top notch hotel for about $20 a night & real cold beer about .80c a stubby, wish you were here, we could probably go for the record ;D ;D
Mr Maico #54
-
Have fun Mr & Mrs Maico, we are all thinking of you.
-
I will be there as a spectator ribs are still a bit sore to ride yet.

would anyone have a number i could fax my entry to im running a bit late to post it

Just had a look at the long range forcast for Sunday, looks like 50 to 60k winds for Geelong, it just wouldn't be Barrabool with out the wind! :)
-
......or some kid breaking his collar bone in the first practice......... :-\

Bugger, got blown completely sideways off the centre of the track Tabletop last year in Practice and did a face plant (yes i know Macca warned every one about it at riders brief, but i got over enthused again) not gonna do that agian.
-
out of the 20 odd times ive ridden at that track ive only ridden there once when it wasnt windy
-
just got back from the nats ,will start work on the bikes tomorrow and be there on sunday.
-
for those traevlling down to The Bool on Sunday and don't know already. The geelong bypass is open and is an easy run now. i did a trip down to Warrnambool a month or so ago and i think i sussed it out. (if i have this incorrect, someone please correct me)
when you get to Corio (where the freeway used to finish) keep going on the freeway until you see the "Ceres" exit, take this exit and then turn right going across the freeway and that is the Barrabool road, a few km's and your there. from Melbourne it should knock off at least 20 minutes i reckon.
See ya there
-
Looks like I will be able to make it, bit of a last minute decision. Is it OK to register on the day?

Any one back on deck to give us a report on what Barrabool was like. Taking a guess that she would have been cold, blowing a gale & raining, pretty typical really. ;)

Pretty accurate Mate. Practice wasn't too bad but then she came. The evo 125 guys (1st race) just waited ,the commentater got the drift in the end and stopped announcing for them to line up.After a while the wind and rain eased and racing got underway - one off the slipperyest tracks ever I reckon but it dryed out mid way though the day until the rain and wind decided to come back making the end off the racing just like it was in the beginning.Very well run meeting though.Hilly went home early after slipping the big yz in a corner and hurting his knee , didnt actually crash.Steve sweeney was there too ride! but elected not too and a guy from NZ competed and did very well .Thats about all I got .Thats to the club ,especially the flaggies and the VIPER commitee :)

Just got home, second motomanaic coments but all in all meeting was great, track was great, mid off day,had a hoot of a day, thanks to viper boys and hosting club especially poor flagies and canteen girls given weather conditions. Hope you made it home Hilly. 2 panadol washed done with a Bundy should have done the trick!!!!!!!!
-
Had an awesome day, track was very good once it dried out.
Bike ran well, congrats to Viper and Sporting MCC
Motomaniac inside line is the shortest way around
-
Hey Frankie, any news on next weekend? Track etc? Far from main part of shep?
-
They protested that I was riding an Evo bike in Big-bore Pre-85 ::)
Then they protested that I rode a Pre-85 bike in Evo :(
Then they protested that I looked older than 44 and shouldn't have been in the Evo 40-44 age group. ???
Caps 999 protested because I kept blowing kisses at him at the start of each race. :P
And Gator just protested about everything (actually whined more than anything) :D

Yer Mate Im still learning . Thanks though any advice is much appreciated .Especially in those conditions .
Im hoping for a 8 round series next year -Traralgon, Rosebud ,Outtrim and Wonthaggi x 2 other wise Im going to lobby the state gov. to cover the whole of the "Bool" in sand - for enviromental reasons of course!

If I was the Steward I would have upheld the third one forsure.
Winners are grinners congrats on a greatday for you Mate.
-
Thanks Motoman. I had a ball, the bike performed wonderfully and there was some great racing. Heaps of bar-banging with Viper 42 and the rain pretty well washed my bike coming home. ;D It was good to catch up with everyone (Hoony and the gang) and it was just damn sad that we lost Hurricane Hilly so early in the day. I hope the leg's ok mate..... :-\
-
mxmaniac track is located at Undera speedway not far from Shepp.
Track is a combination of mx and natural terrain, should be fun.
-
I went for a drive down to Barrabool and caught up with a few guys, but elected to leave to early.
The pic doesn't accurately reflect how miserable it was when it was p!$$!ng down, but the rain was wide spread - no sign of the You Yangs in this pic! (http://i836.photobucket.com/albums/zz289/TeeBone33/th_Augbikes2009040.jpg)
-
The track went from ice to velcro and back again throughout the day. had a ball.
-
Had some fun for sure but went home with a tweaked knee from riding on "wet ice", then went Ok on the dry grippy surface, only to have my bike seize on the back straight. It's a long push acrross those hills! To top it off, Stein kindly lent me his bike only to have one of my "mates" take the front wheel out in some "friendly" competition and crashed it! At one stage of the day it was sunshine, rain, wind & clouds all at the same time.
Cheers,
K

Had a ball!
I'm new to viper and I like the way the Viper race days are run... good racing, good atmosphere and no BS
First time I've ridden at Barabool in about 15 years and it hasn't changed, great track and good fun in the dry.
But when it rains it feels like the track is ice, your tyres are made of grease and the rain is KY ;D
-
Ah, The Bool. what a mixed day track wise. really enjoyed the day and catching up with the boys. either its just me or the bike presentation standard has been lifted since i last had a go at the end of last year, lots of bikes looked better than new saw beautiful CR480's , RM500's, a very clean smick YZ400 (#30 who ever he is ;)) & immaculate YZ 465.
the track was skatey in practice and was like riding on ball bearings where it had been ripped, race 1 and it was greasy city (but forken fun having the rear wheel swapping sides all the same), race 2 was grouse when it dried out, traction city.
i even went out in the open all powers with the moderns after lunch, got a piss cutter start 2nd into the first corner and held that for 2 laps till i could not hold that pace any longer (500cc 2 stroke still blows away them Valve things on the grid, if it hooks up).
Last race was slime time when it rained and i decked it down a hill when i lost the back end out of a corner on lap 1 and beat my bike to the bottom of the hill by sliding into the first corner and had to walk a bit up the hill to get it (it was still idling too).
all in all i had a blast. Thanks SMCC Andy and the Viper Committee. That's it for me, i can't see myself competing again (ride & social days and trail riding from now on) due to work and family commitments and i've had my 2nd run at MX and my mid life crisis is over (for now, gotta get a sports car and a blonde with big tits and an arse you could eat your lunch off).
-
That`s a piss poor attitude Hoony, now your chasing something your not allowed to have and it`s gonna cost ya a house. Stay on that 500 and you won`t go wrong. Good to hear you got out there and had a fang around. Peter.
-
Ha, your right 100%.
so Pete, what happened to you on the Day Mate? i thought you were coming down (or did i miss you on the day?) i thought you would make it for the 20th anniversay of your last Barrabool ride in 89'
-
I also thought i was going to be there Hoony, i was stuffing around all day saturday trying to get something that feels like front brakes but no luck. I`m now done with trying to get these standard single arm type brakes working and am in the process of fitting up a twin leading set up that will hopefully fix it.
I am kicking myself real bad for not getting there, the thought of racing at Barrabool and then nothing. Peter.

Yeah Hoony, thats me #34.
I wish I had a helmet cam on that last race, I had the birds eye view, that stack of yours was unreal to watch....I think you actually accelerated when you hit the deck!

Yeah when i hit the deck thats the fastest i have ever been down that hill. :D buggered if i know what happened, did the rear step out or did i lose the front it was so quick i can't work it out, bloody funny though.
so why the Mick22 handle if your #34?
-
It happened real fast, but I think the back just went around :)
I've always raced as 2 or 22 but someone already had them at Viper! The bike had 34 on it when I bought it so I figured that'll do!
-
Hey Hoony, Nearly choked on my Tiger Beer, in a bar in Saigon, when I read your posting about snatching it. If it will keep you racing, I got a 1970 2 door Valiant nearly ready to go. I'll stop in at the sex shop on the way home from the airport & get a blowup doll with 40 d cup tits, will that be ok ???
Cheers from Saigon

Yeah that will do the trick ;)
Glad to hear you 2 are having a great time over there Ken-ster ! i'll make a pact with you, you come back for a round next year and so will i
it was a great day all round, Nimmo was in every other race and was up the front as well took at least one win on the day that monty sure handles sweet and goes.
-
Did the PROPHET HOONSTER just announce his retirement? I don't believe it!Although I was thinking along the same lines after my dismal performace.
I just couldn't figure out how to ride on that surface.Take it easy go = go slow and get passed, give more throttle = too much wheel spin and getting passed, push into the corners more = too much brake sliding and getting passed.Okay last race going down the first big downhill holding 2nd hmmm? No throttle ,no brake but still sliding fulllock top to bottom and just making the berm and got passed on the inside.WTF, Think I'll find an Icerink to practice on before the Bool next year - in case it rains.
Don't give up Hoonster .Who will I turn too for guidance?? ???
-
That's it for me, i can't see myself competing again
Sorry Hoony. You're not getting off that easily...... :D
-
G'day Boys well i had a pretty ordinary day i messed up a jump on the straight and the wind took the bike out from me and i put a leg down as i landed and my leg is pretty sore ,but nothing broken and my Knee looks like a footy but i dont think its too bad and i will be back on it next round . CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL INVOLVED IN THE SAVING OF THIS GREAT MOTORCYCLE VENUE 8)
Our money that goes to MA has been used in a worth while project ;D
enjoy
http://www.fullnoise.com.au/
Motorcycling Australia (MA), together with assistance from the Victorian State Government, the City of Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast Shire, has acquired Barabool’s McAdam Park in what represents a landmark occurrence for Australian motorcycle sport.
McAdam Park, home to the Sporting Motorcycle Club (SMCC), is an iconic 300-acre venue which has been used for motorcycle sport since the early 1960s, but was in danger of being lost forever had the required $3.2 million not been raised by yesterday’s deadline.
SMCC joined forces with the Geelong Motorcycle Club - who were initially set to receive over $600,000 from the City of Greater Geelong in order to relocate to Avalon - but this money was instead redirected toward McAdam Park in order to develop it as a regional facility.
Together with guidance from the Barwon Recreational Motorcycling Council, the two clubs have since been lobbying to raise the required funds in order to save the facility, and the contribution being provided by MA will now ensure its long-term survival.
“Following a series of meetings involving the Minister for Sport, the Honourable James Merlino and the State Member for Barwon, Michael Crutchfield, it was clear that without a funding contribution from MA the property would be lost to motorcycle sport,” MA CEO David White said.
“I am extremely proud to announce that MA will be funding the project to the extent of approximately $1.1 million.”
At the announcement made this afternoon at McAdam Park, Mr. Merlino announced that the Victorian State Government will be contributing $1.2 million to the project.
“The land was used with the utmost cooperation and enthusiasm from the late Mr. Clive McAdam and with his passing, the family decided to relinquish the property,” White continued.
“Their selfless efforts to ensure it remained a motorcycle venue are gratefully acknowledged.”
White envisages a great future for motorcycle sport at McAdam Park and also anticipates significant use benefits to the broader community.
“MA will vigorously explore these opportunities,” White continued.
“Today is significant not only for motorcycle sport, but because it is a wonderful example of State Government, regional councils, a National Sporting Body, clubs and the general community working together to achieve an outcome which will not only see the saving of an iconic sporting venue, but ensure its future community use,” White concluded.
-
its a miracle the ma did something ;)
-
Thatsgreat news Allison, thats one of the best tracks in Australia left, but for how long ? Wait for the modern guys to scream for silly doubles , tripples , stutters , and another Icon has gone down the gurgler
Whadda ya mean ? Its already got most of those.
-
When did that track get wrecked then ? Last time I rode there was about 4 years ago and it was still good then.
I wouldn't say its wrecked but it got more obstacles every year for a few years now. Its not quite the fast flowing track that it used to be.Especially without the extended section that they use for Oceania.
-
yeah, wish they still ran that fast section on the grass and the horse power hill. at one thumper nats i attended a local Copper had his hair drier/timing light on the riders and i think it may have been bell on a XR630 clock at close 130Kmh down that section before the drop off.
-
awesome to see a great track saved.. glad i bought a tile...
