Title: bleaching yz tank
Post by: philthy on July 29, 2009, 06:30:41 pm
Hi all, just spent the weekend sanding my yz250f tank as per the article in VMX.I have finished the sanding with 1200 wet & dry,but not yet polished.Although it has made a big improvement I still have very slight staining on the bottom where the fuel has sat,my question is will bleach help or will it undo all the work I have done thus far,or am I better off polishing with jiff ect.I did take quite a lot of plastic off so didn't want to go much further!

Unless you were using a belt-sander you should be fine - plastic tanks are usually about 6mm thick!  As to bleaching, a couple of litres mixed with water, drop in your tank and wait a couple of days.

I tried bleach from the local hardware store, and it was useless.

There's Hydrogen Peroxide and another type, both labelled as 'household bleach'. I can't recall which type I used, but I figure that you need to use the other one.
