For fans of old MX stars, Racer-X mag has a great story on Moiseev. I loved to read the exploits of these guys back in the day. His team mate, Vlad "The Impaler" Kavinov, was another star of the time who will probably be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Good to see Racer-X making time and space.

Thanks for the tip. Its good to see that history hasn't forgotten these guys.Hard men indeed!

This is one of my favourite motocross images. I pinched it from the MXtrax.UK forum some time ago . It shows Moiseev & Kavinov coming out of the "Bomb Crater" at the '77 British 250 GP at Hawkstone (I think). It looks like old Carving-knife is about to take his KTM & Russian team-mate out . This would be a photo for Dennis Myers to drool over, as it would be a rare thing to see KTM's probably running 1 - 2 ;D.

Great photo Mate! It is Hawkstone in 77 .There is some film footage of the GP around .The track was brutal ,the KTM s domonated with Moiseev taking the GP.Thats Moiseev about to take Kavinov out by the way.
I couldn't find the RacerX interview.

Poor old Guennady (I'm ducking from the Jikov carbies being thrown at me by the CZ guys). His team mate takes out Falta and he got the blame. IMO he redeemed himself in '77 when he won the championship without his team mates dirty tactics.

The thing you find in the Back files of Ozvmx

I was a marshell at that 77 meeting at Hawkstone, Guennady used a fallen rider & myself as a burm knock me right on my arse.

My take is the photo came from the advertising material for the 1978 models. Neither rider crashed because they were Russians riding KTMs. Kavinov's bike is just about to get on the gas and Moiseev will turn under him. Great bikes. I'm sure Pavel Rulev is just out of the frame. Moiseev obviously did more than redeem himself in 1978. 1974 - its in the book.
