Title: YZ490 clutch basket

Does anyone make a Billet alloy clutch basket for a 87 YZ490? Had one explode on a methanol race engine :o i think we are going to need a billet one if it happens again but until then a IT465 basket will be fitted which looks mechanically the same.

hi    they were on ebay a couple weeks ago  for a yz 465   he had 5 of them they were 80 pounds and 15 pounds shipping his user id was    rider-83     cheers arno

ok i will have a look for that seller. Was also wondering if any of the YZ specialists stock them eg extreme YZ or if there is an off the shelf item from wiseco, Pro circuit, Hinson etc.

I bought a billet clutch basket for my 125j off Ebay UK not long ago it looks alot stronger than the std one and I think they did a one for the 490 as well. It was made by mataka and cost 96 pounds.

yep talon make one the last vmx mag a guy used one in a 1t yamaha

i can get Mataka and talon baskets through work. didnt know they made them for old YZ's too. Sounds like there is a few options here anyway. Will go the cost saving route first and use the supplied 465 basket and if that one crunches to bits then i think its a must for a billet one.
